James Cameron's epic action, sci-fi masterpiece starring Schwarzenegger in his most iconic role, has been stunningly restored by Cameron himself. First hitting our screens in 1991 with ground-breaking special effects, this version will take the seminal blockbuster to the next level of effects and into the 21st century for a new generation of fans. It has been 10 years since the events of Terminator. Sarah Connor's ordeal is only just beginning as she struggles to protect her son John, the future leader of the human resistance against the machines, from a new Terminator, sent back in time to eliminate John Connor while he's still a child. Sarah and John don't have to face this terrifying threat alone however. The human resistance have managed to send them an ally, a warrior from the future ordered to protect John Connor at any cost. The battle for tomorrow has begun. Review: Movie - Amazing product thanks Review: Crisp! - Had this on dvd and the quality was awful! This Blu-ray digital remaster is beautiful! Very sharp and the colours look amazing 10/10 (the fist film is still miles better tho ;) )

Studio Canal 2017 blu ray review
I'm gonna go ahead and assume that you've either seen this movie or read enough about it that I don't need to dedicate time to reviewing it here. I will simply note that this release contains 3 cuts of the film; the original theatrical version, the special edition and an "extended special edition" version (which runs to near 2 hours and 40 minutes). I cannot say what's been extended as I have not yet watched this version. PQ: I have done a pretty extensive comparison with the 2015 Lionsgate US release, which was the best available version until now. This new release knocks that version out of the competition. The contrast and detail are infinitely better, near perfect even, and the colours are now far more realistic. If you have both discs, compare the initial shot of John Connor and the kid with the ginger mullet in the garage, which was horribly over-saturated on the Lionsgate disc. Image stability is rock solid, where it was still disappointingly wobbly on the Lionsgate disc, and there are no traces of compression at all. So why only 4.5 instead of a full 5? Well, I was hoping to see a bit of grain, and there's barely a hint of it, even in the darker shots. I don't know enough to be able to say whether this means they have scrubbed it or used a mild DNR, but it just looks slightly artificial (for want of a better word) and totally un-film-like. Does this bother me? Yes, a lot, actually. I am as much of a purist as the next person about this. Film ought to look like film. That said, the grain that was visible on earlier releases was blotchy, not natural looking. This aside, the DP and Cameron have (supposedly) approved this new transfer, so a part of me wants to forgive this issue. I know this will bother a lot of people far more than it bothers me - there are already people having aneurysms online about this issue, most of whom, I'm inferring, haven't actually watched the disc yet. If you're one of those, don't say I didn't warn you. I'm not entirely happy with it, don't get me wrong, but this is still the best this move has ever looked on home video. Also, note that if you choose to play the special editions, the disc informs you that, due to the disc branching between versions, you may notice variation in quality, and that the best quality version to watch is the theatrical cut. Again, I haven't watched the spec eds yet, but based on the proverbial foaming at the mouth I have seen on various forums, I'm not optimistic. The extended sections have not been restored at all, which is frankly pathetic and insulting to fans of the spec ed version. It also means that this release will never be THE definitive version of T2 to own, and completists will no doubt want to hold on to their old copies, in some cases at the expense of picking this version up. More to come on that. AQ: Terrific! Great range, and it really pops. I know people will be miffed that it's only 5.1, but as I only have a stereo set up, I won't be losing any sleep over this. Extras: This is a matter of taste. I have owned probably 7 or 8 different releases of T2 on DVD and then blu-ray which, between them, probably had over 20 hours worth of extras. This disc is comparatively thin, but what it does have is a terrific new hour-long retrospective documentary with all the key players (including Schwarzenegger, Cameron, Furlong and Patrick) which, for my money, is far more enjoyable than sitting through 5 hours of people talking about the visual effects. All told, this is now the definitive version of the *theatrical cut* of T2 to own with the caveat that the PQ's lack of grain will irk some people (and drive some people to distraction). If you're a fan of the extended cut of the film - I must admit that I have come to the conclusion that the theatrical version is the tightest - or an extras hound, you need to hold on to your previous discs. If all of the above (in this paragraph) amounts to a deal breaker for you, you can confidently give this release a miss altogether.

One of many classic Arnold Schwarzenegger movies. Good value for money and excellent viewing experience.

Excellent Blu-ray remaster.
The movie itself is well known to be the best Terminator movie of them all and can still hold it's own against most of the garbage masquerading as SCi-fi today. I bought this Blu-ray to upgrade from the DVD version as this version as been professionally remastered in HD, not just copied onto Blu-ray format. The image and sound is excellent, the film grain of the pre re-mastered films is gone and the movie looks as sharp and sounds as crisp as most modern Blu-ray released today. Well worth the upgrade for Terminator fans.

Capolavoro
