Iconic Youth Serum, With Hyaluronic Acid, Boosts Collagen & Soothes Sensitive Skin, 30ml

MERUMAYA Iconic Youth Serum 30 ml is from a brand not previously seen, ordered not for personal use but by a female family member. Its products are all in the area of anti-ageing and related areas and the company founded by someone who spent most of her previous working life of more than a quarter-century in helping develop and promote the 'Clinique' brand to a leading position. The intention is to use the knowledge and experience in a new way with a brand new product range. The serum is of a soft-to-medium consistency, thinner than a cream although thicker than a milk or lotion and with an 'oily' feel. It is fragranced, not too heavily, and with a slight and pleasing lemony smell. Although also personally unfamiliar with the finer points of a 'serum' from other possible consistencies other than that potency is usually claimed as higher, their effect may be longer-lasting and not necessarily requiring re-application during the day. The moisturing effects provided by this formulation were excellent, better than many other inexpensive inexpensive formulations from some mainstream brands and it also appears to continue working for many hours. There was a degree of plumping and smoothness that was fairly quickly immediate and which will build on repeated application over a course of treatment until its maximum potential is attained and later maintained. It is said to be an ideal companion to another of the brand's products which also provides a minimal level of SPF abilities which this does not. The product is priced at the mid-to-high level considering that the dispenser holds just 30ml although the dispenser is misleadingly large and will require a few pumps to prime but only a small amount of product will be needed. There is also a 15ml travel size should that be more convenient. There were no adverse effects when used which is not the experience with another brand of of similar products.

I've tried a lot of different types of moisturiser as I have patches of very dry skin on my face which can be very embarrassing so I'm always looking for the one that will do the job with minimal fuss and strife. There is good and bad about this product and I;ll start with the name as billing a product as an "iconic youth serum" is immediately raising expectations. Do I look younger after using for a month? No. I still look like a typical 40 something. Does it hydrate my skin? Well, yes and rather well although I find I need a re-application by mid-afternoon to avoid any dry skin in my problem areas. Is it any better than most standard moisturisers? Not that I can see. Also on the downside, I wasn't keen on the smell and the packaging looks really, really cheap. On the plus side, I found it sinks into my skin really easily and a little goes a long way. The consistency was good too as I find some creams to be really greasy or thick and gloopy. This one is about right. Finally, there's the price. As I have said, a little goes a long way and for this price that's just as well as it's really not cheap at all and for £35 I would expect a little more refinement.

My wife really liked this cream. She normally uses SK-II which is more expensive, and hard to get, but after trying this cream for a few weeks she's considering changing. She said "It's very light and almost disappears as soon as you put it on, but it leaves your skin feeling great afterwards, moisturized and radiant." She's had problems with certain more oily products not suiting her skin type (light Mediterranean) and giving her spots and making the skin look oily (Chanel was one that was just too rich for her skin type) but none of those problems with this cream. She said the day and night cream really felt very similar, and the day cream worked really well under makeup. Although cheaper than SK-II, only 4 stars because it is isn't cheap overall. Highly recommended.

This product from, I guess, a relatively new skincare brand in the UK, promises to reduce wrinkles, improve skin luminosity (not sure what this is!), improve moisture and elasticity (ditto), and restore skin structure and texture. This all sounds a little vague for a product which is pretty expensive for a small 30ml bottle, although the bottle itself is rather larger. The serum has a more fluid consistency than a cream, but is more viscous than water. The manufacturer recommends it is applied morning and evening on cleansed skin and that a moisturiser, MERUMAYA Youth Preservation Moisturiser SPF 15 30 ml , then be applied . This, from a male perspective, may be a cream application too far as, presumably, you have to wait for the serum to dry before applying a moisturiser. And, or course, I don't have the relevant moisturiser. The product does contain what seem to be relevant ingredients. Hyaluronic Acid is a mainstay of more costly age-related skin care products and exotically the serum contains a deep-sea vent Extremophile biotech compound! I can understand that this might be expensive to collect from the deep sea. Judging the efficacy of these creams/serums is subjective and often requires months of application. At this stage all I can say is that it is easy to apply, leaves no residue, does not result in shiny skin, only requires a small amount, and seems to make skin softer. Also it results in no adverse reactions! So for the moment a cautious four stars. I'll report back if this turns out to be the elixir of youth!

This is actually a very nice serum from a brand I had never heard of before. I have pretty sensitive skin which often reacts to hyaluronic acid, one of the constituent ingredients of this serum, but so far I have suffered no reaction or sensitivity. I am always somewhat sceptical of the various claims made about skincare ingredients and their miracle effects and largely assess them on how they make skin feel after use. This one left my skin feeling soft and plumped - a very similar effect to my usual serum, (Boots Protect & Perfect). Therein lies the problem: the Boots product is significantly cheaper and is frequently available on a 3for2 deal. It would be difficult for me to justify paying an extra £10-15. I have seen comments about the packaging on other reviews. I don't think the container is that bad (certainly not Poundland as one or two others have mentioned) but it doesn't have the luxe feel that the price point requires. The finish e.g. on the label and in the box says wannabe rather than high end, the box being distinctly Poundland. It is a shame, as the product itself seems very good but is pricy. I know the packaging doesn't make a difference to how the product works but if you are going to price yourself at the premium end of the market you need to look the part. As with many of these products, the container looks much larger than the amount of product it contains!

Merumaya is not a well know brand but it is a lovely product, I would put this on par with Boots Protect & Perfect formula both in terms of results, price and application, this will last around 1 month if used properly and definitely makes a difference and is strongly recommended. Just one thing, make sure you are also using moisturiser alongside this for better results.

Pleasant smell, not too powerful, light consistency, nice feeling on skin when applied, absorbed quickly. Only draw back is if I rub my eyes after putting it on and Ihave any traces of the cream left on my fingers my eyes water for some minutes as the cream stings. I hadn't put it near my eyes but what was left on my hands was enough.

This is a smooth cream which is easily absorbed by the skin. It smells nice, and certainly seemed to improve the look of my skin. I have sensitive skin and it didn't cause me any issues. The only down side is really the packaging - it doesn't look or feel like a premium product.
