As of July 2022, it does come with a cover.

What type of battery?

It is both solar and battery powered. I have had mine for 22 years and have never needed a new battery. The batteries power is restored by the solar. If you think you need to replace the battery it can be replaced on the back of the calculator with 4 small screws. Not sure of the type since I have never had to replace mine but you can look there.

If you attempt a square root that is not a perfect square will it simplify or not? (I.E. square root of 45) I need to know this for my finals.

The TI-30X IIS will display 6.708203932 for the square root of 45.The square root of 45 in its simplest radical form is/would be 3ã5. This was a like for like replacement of the original I purchased nearly 20 years ago. As an Engineer I subscribe to the old addage "if it 'aint broke don't fix it". The original finally succumbed to a life of hard labour, the replacement with have a much easier passage through life and will probably outlast me......

It does what it says on the tin. Some operations are a bit complicated. Doing statistics one has to remember that only ca. 49 values are stored! It’s good value for money, though.
