Works great! Screen is a bit small, so I hooked it up to a monitor I bought from a thrift store. Just wanted to download all my super 8 and VHS tapes before they get corrupted.

Love this device! After buying several different capture devices to record my VHS and Hi8 tapes to the computer, and getting poor results, I had given up on trying to digitize my old home movies. Then, I saw this and bought it and it is a game changer. So easy to use and great results! One tip: Use the S-video input and the device. I was trying to record some old videos with just regular rca cables and would get some jerky frames. Once I started using the Svideo input, the problem went away. Fortunately, the VHS machine I still have has an Svideo output. I dug through old cables and found an Svideo cord and used it and there was a noticeable improvement in the video quality. If your playback machine does not have an Svideo output on it, Keith at ClearClick will send you an adapter free of charge. The email to request the adapter is in the owner's manual. Shoutout to Keith. I emailed ClearClick to request the adapter and he answered within a few hours. Just be sure to include your Amazon order# with the request. Highly recommend!

I bought this for the same reason everyone else would be. To capture old memories. I was in a band for a long time in the late 80s and 90s and I video taped almost every show we did here in Rochester, NY and other cities. To date, I have captured over 50 +/- videos. Some long lengths, some short. It really IS as easy as it is described as. Simply plug in the cables to the VCR or HIGH- camera, or what ever device you have that has video and needs to S-Video and/or AV-Cables (Red White and8 Yellow), press play on the unit, and when you want to start recording, just hit the REC red button on the device. Its a little tricky, though. Sometimes pressing it quickly will just take a snapshot picture and save it to your USB Drive. So, you may have to hold it down for like a second or two to see the counter start on the top left. When you are done, just hit the red button again and stop. Then just repeat the process. The quirk: I noticed when you start a recording a video and then stop the recording, then remove the USB stick from the unit, for some reason or other it doesn't save. No idea why. So, with that said, I tried something. I recorded a 20 minute long video, then stopped the recording process. Then, I started recording more. I did a total of three clips. Then I unplugged the POWER from the unit and then pulled the USB out and inserted it in to my laptop. All the files were there. So, that is a trick I noticed I could do to get around that one quirk. The screen IS small on the unit, but I knew that going in. All you need is an HDMI cable to attach to the unit and in to your TV or whatever. Once you do that, the video on the unit turns off and you can see the video on your big screen. Note: Everything you see on the little screen (the time-code, timer, settings at the top) are displayed on the TV as well. You just have to choose one or the other while you're capturing. The file is an .MP4 video file. What you see on the tape is what you get un-compressed. So, garbage in, garbage out. Good video in, good video captured! The file sizes it creates for a 2hr VHS tape recorded in SP mode on the VHS camera originally came to be 4GB (Gigabytes). I don't recommend using a storage drive like a NAS device or an external drive. Stick to fast USB 3.0 sticks. After trying dozens of methods and spending hundreds on hardware and software, my digital copies of old video tapes were always lousy. i had to have a computer and a conversion device and a lot of time and the results were usually mediocre. .There is an easier way. You will still need a camcorder or vhs player to play your old videos into the ClearClick device, but it makes perfect copies on the first try. No computer required. Play your old VHS tape into the ClearClick device and it converts and records your video to an SC card, just like your camera or phone. Take the card out of ClearClick and plug it into your TV or your laptop and watch your old videos. ClearClick even has a small screen you can watch while it is copying the old tape. It simply works and is the easiest way to convert old video tapes.

It did what is was supposed to do and in an easy way. It will be a guest on Craigslist's soon. I will no longer need it.

This work pretty well. I used it for old teaching tapes. It did clear up some of the distortion of the 35 yr old tapes. I had a little trouble at the beginning but the service people responded quickly and I was able to easily get it working well.

I have several vhs tapes that cannot be purchased on a dvd. I actually still buy vhs tapes, because not all movies have dvd releases. The mini clear click device works very well. I use a usb stick, which cannot exceed 512gb (they recommend the sandisk 512gb stick). The menu is easy to navigate. You must set for s video or rca plugs and you must set for usb or microsd. You can have a time/date stamp. I set everything up on the mini screen before attaching the hdmi output to my TV screen. There are three modes, record, still photo and playback. It defaults to record. I just plug everything in and push record. I can see the recording time on the left top of the screen display. When done, I just press the record button to stop. That's it. And my photo is the mp4 playing on my laptop. It plays perfectly and can be burned to a dvd if desired. The second photo is a vhs being recorded. Loving ❤️ it. The value is priceless, since paying to have this done is very expensive and it will make mp4's of other video besides vhs tapes.

This is probably the easiest and simplest way to convert VHS or 8 mm tape or dvd to digitized mp4 file. However it has its own problem. First of all the picture you get is not as clear as you like, because the even Hi 8 tape's resolution is not high enough. Also the old tapes are for 4:3 ration not 16:9 of modern TV. Your video will be stretched wide. This device cost 140 bucks. I'd recommend to get upscaler from SoundBeast for $49 + Elgato HD60X for data capturing for $155 from AMAZON. You get picture quality upscaled and right ratio of your picture NOT stretched.

If you're looking for one that works and it cheap, this is the one to get. Super easy and straight forward. Best one for the price.

After trying a cheap capture card with expectantly poor results, I decided to buy this device as is one of the most talked all-in-one devices to capture vhs tapes, with usually good reviews. The results are simply unwatchable, as you can see from my video sample. Believe it or not, in the original VHS video, the kids actually faces! You can actually use your smartphone and film the screen, with much better results (stupid as it is, I'm not kidding). I obviously wasn't expecting professional results, but in my opinion this product shouldn't exist at all. I received it yesterday, and I'm returning it today.
