What's the advantage over a 4 pack of 750 mah eneloop aaas for £8? i don't get it.

I have used NiMH batteries in Petzl headlamps for many a year for camping and winter dog walking, but I am considering buying a Core model, because: 1 - NiMH batteries do not retain their charge well - I found this out to my cost when trying to explore an old slate mine. So you need to be diligent about re-charging your batteries before serious use if they have been sitting unused for a while. 2 - The Core battery has a good capacity, significant for longer camping trips or winter fellwalking. 3 - The Core can be re-charged quickly from a Power Bank as it has a built in charger. You could take a USB connected NiMH charger (I have one), but it is just more stuff to carry. Having said that, using NiMH batteries is perfectly viable for casual use, say evening runs or dog walks. But know their limitations - especially their poor charge retention.

Would this be suitable for the petzl myo rxp please as the battery box says that it is compatible with rechargeable batteries?

If it says its compatible then it should be fine.

Bought for Tikka headtorch but it won't work. Any suggestions? Or is it a dud battery ...

Had the same problem. Turned out to be the torch, the metal that is suppose to contact the negative side of the battery was recessed, just bent it out a bit and everything then worked.

Why are these more than the actual headlamps?

Because the headlamps don't come with this USB rechargeable battery. Try buying the Aktik Core which is a bit more expensive, but does come with this battery
