I have bluetooth, but what does the usb connector do with no cord to connect it. do i take it out and plug it into my laptop?

You don't need the USB dongle at all if you have a device that can connect via Bluetooth. Just leave the dongle in the keyboard's holder under the battery cover. Use the dongle to connect the keyboard to a device without Bluetooth, or a device with Bluetooth where you don't want to use Bluetooth because Bluetooth doesn't always work as well especially with Windows 10.

There is no number lock button so how do I get the numeric keypad to work?

Overall this keyboard is designed for ChromeOS use. But you can use it with Windows - mainly you'll just be missing the Caps key and the F keys. I had the same issue with the numeric key pad not working on my home Windows PC (it just acted like arrows), but the number pad worked fine on my work computer. The difference was that my home computer didn't have the same settings as my work computer. To enable Num Lock on your Windows PC follow these directions: 1) Type "Run" in the Windows search bar. A little screen should pop open with a field called Open. 2) Type OSK and hit enter. OSK is the On Screen Keyboard. 3) On the bottom right of the OSK, there is an Options button. Click that and an options window pops up. 4) Check the box that says Turn on numeric key pad and click okay. 5) The OSK now has the numeric key pad in the display. Click the NumLock button on the OSK. 6) Close the OSK and the numeric key pad on your K580 should now work.
