From Christopher Columbus to Martin Luther King, Jr., give your child a chronological understanding of great leaders in American history. With over 50 biographical excerpts of Presidents, generals, preachers, pioneers that cover 500 years of US history, your child can observe the character-building qualities of these leaders. Featured in the concluding chapter are 15 current Americans with substantial contributions. Let your students study the timelines and maps to see the growth and expansion of our great nation and check their comprehension through various questions listed in each chapter. From Benjamin Franklin, Mayflower ships, to Clara Barton and the medical advancements, your students will learn with the help of this book. Review: Short biographies all in one place. - I actually use a different history curriculum for my kiddos (TGTB) which is more of an overview of history from the beginning(creation)-modern times. First time using Abeka so I’m sure they have more options. I liked the thought of exploring people in American history. It gives an overview of each president and some of the challenges they faced during presidency along with some of the improvements they made. It goes all the way to the 45th president Trump before Biden. After each chapter there are about 5-10 questions to answer. It does go over more Americans as well. I plan on alternating days between our current history curriculum (2-3days a week) and using this more as a read aloud on the other days (2-3days a week) for my 3rd grader. This could most definitely be a standalone curriculum we just like to switch it up so we don’t lose interest. I decided not to use the map skills booklet since we are in the middle of our 50 states study so it would be too much for my child. But looks promising if you’re wanting more practice with that I may keep it to go over it again after we’ve finished up our 50 states.
