Filmed live at the Royal Albert Hall, Cliff returns with his special 70th birthday show Bold As Brass. Accompanied by a swing band, conducted by Grammy Award-winning Michael Omartian and including some of the Nashville musicians who played on his album of the same name, Cliff's performance features some of the greatest hits from his 52-year career, along with such timeless classics as 'I've Got You Under My Skin' and 'Fly Me To The Moon', and presents yet another dimension of his remarkable musical versatility. Join in Cliff's 70th birthday celebrations. Review: I've paid much more for other artists that are not as good. - This certainly did meet my expectations. Several hours of non-stop entertainment from Cliff and his guests. A little more unusual, but the Brass Orchestra and his lovely voice matched very well. I always feel uplifted after Cliff's concerts, singing and dancing along if the mood takes me. I've paid much more for other artists that are not as good. Review: DVD - Love it it’s beautiful thank you

Not your typical Cliff Richard, but a swinging tribute to songwriter Harold Arlen
This concert finally tipped me over the edge into the category of Cliff Richard fandom. I'm a big fan of Big Band Swing, and Bold as Brass is Cliff in top self-deprecating form, exploring a genre more familiar to Bublé or Sinatra but nonetheless making a really great job of it. The atmosphere is electric, picture quality is superb, audio quality is outstanding (with VERY good dynamic range and multi-channel separation). All in all highly recommended.

Double dare for Cliff
The first half of the concert is great, the second half is Cliff singing his latest CD and the sound is much better live so buy the DVD rather than the CD! The limited edition CD was not good. I do feel that the swing music showcases the Orchestre de Ville, no surprise that the band leader was instrumental in production of the CD! Cliff tried something new and it didn't come off, a couple of the songs are fine but there are just too many, one after the other, for a concert programme. Cliff should release his version of "Sway" from the first half as a single, he gives the Pussycat Dolls a run for their money! That was the highlight of the whole DVD. Usual behind the scenes extras. This is a DVD for the die hard Cliff fan, if you want a great Cliff concert then go for the DVD "Final Reunion" with the Shadows and Cliff's solo concert DVD released around 2008.

A gift for my wife who is an avid Cliff fan! She las masses of his DVDs and CDs but this was a welcome addition to her collection. The quality of the picture was superb and well worth the extra couple of quid for the Blu-ray version.

WHAT A PERFORMANCE!!!
This is a fabulous performance by Cliff. Each song is arranged and performed in a top notch manner and Orchestra De Ville is the perfect companion to provide the music to go with Cliff's singing. This DVD along with the CD Bold As Brass make for great entertainment. I highly recommend them both.

AS BOLD AS BRASS
HAD THE CDS AND LOVED THEM, BUT DID NOT PREPARE ME FOR JUST HOW GREAT THIS DVD IS! SO ENJOYABLE AND REFRESHING TO HAVE SOMETHING SO DIFFERENT FROM CLIFF. HE IS ALWAYS SO POLISHED AND PROFESSIONAL, AND NEVER DISAPPOINTS, BUT THIS BEATS THEM ALL.

A Singer, A Stage, An Orchestra and Some Songs....
I purchased this DVD with some trepidation as I had read mixed reviews about it. I am glad I bought it! The first half of the Concert was a surprise because I thought it was all going to be "Bold As Brass" material. This first section contained an excellent variety of material, well performed by Cliff and an excellent group of musicians. The setting and its acoustics are wonderful and Cliff seems very much at ease and if he is having a a lot of fun. It has an almost house party feel to it with very good audience response and participation. The second half of the concert is a presentation of all the "Bold As Brass" material and Cliff shows his skill at the singing material from the Great American Song Book. Backed by a superb gathering of musicians called "Orchestra de Ville" Cliff shows the versatility of his talent, his skill at reading a lyric and just the right amount of innovation in his phrasing and presentation to make great old songs seem new again. The arrangements and orchestrations by Michael Omartian certainly help him achieve this. Throughout the Concert Cliff is backed up by a superb trio of singers who are absolutely marvelous. It was nice to see Cliff with no dancers, no great technical fireworks, just a singer, a stage, an orchestra and some songs. How wonderful that the singer was one of the world's best, the setting a gem, the orchestra terrific and the songs immortal!

Big Band, Swing Style
I've been a big fan of Cliff Richard since 1963, and I like pretty much everything that he releases. So my review, or course, is biased. The style of this is Big Band, and, with few exceptions, is unlike his favorite pop-rock style for which he is best known. I really like this DVD, as Cliff handles this music, also, in an excellent manner. His voice always has great timber, and excellent diction and expression. What is there not to like? A WORD OF CAUTION FOR AMERICAN PURCHASERS: Unfortunately, the DVD is in PAL format, and therefore will NOT play on most American players. Therefore, buy with caution.

Version bluray

He sang standard songs when Norrie Paramor was the musical director when he started his career. So it is no surprise he is able to do these type of tunes without much troubles.
