The Pocket Scavenger: Keri Smith

I loved this book. I'm disabled and can't walk far so this adds interest to my little walk. It can be done at home too as I've found out on my 'bad'days. You do have to make a mess/ 'ruin' the book so if you aren't prepared to do this, it won't be for you!

I bought this for my granddaughter who is being homeschooled. This book helps her to think outside the box and adds a layer of learning she may not have done while at school.

Myself and husband bought this book to take on a camping trip. It was really fun scavenging for the items. It's going to take a while to complete which is great as I'd be sad if it was quick to complete

Such a cute idea for when you are out and about. I do think it is a little pricey for what it is, but I guess if it brings you happiness then why not.

I love Keri Smith's work, her art and philosophy on life has inspired my own life and art (basically I'm now a person who can never pass up pieces of cardboard or pretty wrapping paper, and I now truly believe that My Life Is My Art) so when I saw her new book, I had to read it! It's quite a simple concept - go out into the world and have a look for the items listed in the book. Then, turning the book upside down and flicking through it, you get a prompt to do some DIY work to your found item. You can pretty much do anything you like! That's the fun bit. There's advice on how to find and where to go looking at the start of the book, and ideas for creating your own scavenger hunts at the back of the book. Anyone concerned about the health and safety aspect of finding things on the street can take photos and use them to make alterations to. That's what I do. This book is so good for encouraging everyone to look, look, and look harder in the world, and I'd fully recommend it to anyone. Your woodland walks will never be the same again!

I had this on pre-order as I've never been disappointed with any of Keri Smith's books and I'm so glad I did. I'm primarily a photographer but do a lot of other arty things and what I love most about Keri's books is the encouragement to explore and look at things totally differently. Already this book has got me back into the habit of looking at the little details everywhere I go, something I'd gotten out of the habit of a bit recently, and helped me out of a creative slump! If you like collecting things and the idea of using found objects in your artwork I'd recommend it.

It's a great book and so much fun, Makes you look around and notice alot more. Great for when you go on holiday as a sort strange item diary. Would recommend to anyone who is looking to do something a bit more interesting than reading a book.

KerI Smith's workbooks are a lot of fun and get the creative juices flowing. They are super helpful if you are feeling blocked. When I was looking at the various titles that she had this one appealed to me though I was a bit frustrated that I couldn't see more of the workbook itself. I did a video on YouTube called The Pocket Scavenger by Keri Smith...a flip through.. my channel name is Curiosidades Extrano. I did the video so others that may be on the fence about purchasing such a great book could see a little bit more and it would help them make a decision about buying the book. I highly recommend her line of books.

Sehr lustig und kreativ. Man wird aufgefordert einfache Sachen zu sammeln und zu findet, um im Verlauf findet man immer mehr Schätze , ob auf der strae oder wo anders. Danach beschäftigt man sich dann genau mit den gefundenen dingen. Also in gewisser Weise auch eine Achtsamkeitsübung. Man lernt in andere Richtungen zu denken und traut sich auch mal "Fehler" zu machen. Sehr schön :)

This book is so much fun! It is a great way to get out and explore nature. In these times,where people are cooped up,it is a safe way to bring family together and break from boredom...plus you can send one to.a friend of family to compete with on line! Make your own rules,like instead of gathering items,take a pic of you with the item. A lso,you can make an urban version,take a pic with a public mailbox,a cop car, a flagpole, a lifeguard station,a church,etc. The possibilities are endless. Get out and walk,or take a drive. I have used this book for years,I do a scavenger hunt every Thanksgiving,because i m a vegetarian and don't celebrate..So this gives us something to look forward to.

I purchased this book to be more mindful and find joy in the world. It did just that.
