Heavy but Versatile, perfect for the home office
I purchased this printer almost 6 months ago as a replacement for my previous cheaper Epson printer.Having been so impressed by the last one’s longevity and simplicity, I wanted if possible, to stay with the brand. With my wife and I’s hobby reviewing products for Amazon, in addition to word documents and spreadsheets, I wanted something larger and more versatile. PLEASE NOTE: this was not a free to review product, it was a purchase.I did my research and as this printer scored high, this was my choice. There is something you do need to check before committing, unlike me! I did not realise how big and heavy this machine was, almost 18kg. When the box arrived which obviously looked even more ginormous with its substantial padding, I did seriously consider sending it back. However, we found a spot in our office to sit it and we have been glad that I did not return it.So, to try and summarise:Positives• Extremely easy to set up and connect to your Wi-Fi network or hardwire.• Once connected to your network you can print from your mobile or tablet.• You can control everything via the flip control screen which is easy to navigate and includes instructions on tasks and a help menu.• Handles double-sided printing, A3, scan, copy, and fax.• Fast and good quality printing (I have yet to try photo prints).• 35-page document feeder, plus a rear feeder for specialty paper.• 250 sheet loading tray capacity.• Wide-format available in the paper tray, as well as the scanner bed.• Large indents on either side make it easy to open the scanner for maintenance.• Easy to replace ink cartridges.• Extra-large ink cartridges.• It apparently uses 80% less power than a Laser Printer.• Sleep mode to save power.• Quiet mode can cut down noise but may slow printing down, this depends on paper type and quality.• USB slot.Negatives• As mentioned, weight.• No HD card slot must connect it via USB.• Power cable only, no leads to connect to PC or Hub.Ink cartridges are always a contentious issue. I haven’t done any form of measurement, all I can say is they have lasted an acceptable amount of time.I have chosen to pay the extra and stick to authentic Epson replacements, which I have found are better priced on Amazon than direct. The reason for choosing to stick with the recommended replacements is that my previous Epson worked perfectly for many years, in its last 18 months I decided to try cheaper versions. Soon after I started to experience a drop-off in performance and it then clogged up and packed in for good. This may just have been a coincidence but for now, this is what I intend to do, if money gets tight, I will explore other alternatives. In summary, both my wife and I love this machine, it does everything we want and has the capability to do a lot more should we want it. Perfect for the home office!

Good wifi and airprint printer
This is a true A3 printer with both A3 scanner platen and ability to print on upto A3 paper. Our previous 'A3' printer had A4 size scanner platen but was good at stitching image together to produce one A3 print. It's a pretty large printer (the dimensions quoted on Amazon were sufficiently correct) so needs a fair bit of desk space. Set up was straightforward and the printer is successfully connected wirelessly to ipads, windows PCs and laptops and no doubt would also connect to our (Android) phones if we wished. There isn't a full operators manual with it, just a start up sheet. The full manual is downloadable from internet and we prefer it this way. Text print is good and photo print on plain paper surprisingly good. It doesn't take long to print but we haven't thrown any long jobs at it. Manufacturer inks are expensive for this model, too early to say how long they last, therefore their value. It's early days with this printer at present but, so far, we're pleased with it. Good value for what it does. I'll update if things change.

Overall very happy and impressed
I am very happy with this printer, although I have only used it very sparingly: the black cartridge is now at 50% and the colour cartridges at 95% each. There are many functions printing options and I have just scratched the surface.I have used it to make copies and print general text and architectural drawings and the quality is superb. I am using A3 100gsm and 80gsm paper and both have been fine. A typical A3 plan prints very quick; I was very surprised at the speed. It has only one paper tray making it a manual and awkward process to change over between A3 and A4. I have a laser A4 so I use this one for A3 almost exclusively. My advice, if you intend to print mixed A3 and A4 this printer will certainly do it, but it's a bit of a chore - perhaps choose a model with two paper trays. This printer has a duplex unit which works really well, but I have only used it very little. Make sure you have extended the paper out tray so the A3 paper does not fold down in the process. On two occasions the printer has pulled in two sheets of paper. This is slightly worrying, because I know from many printers in the past, when they start to do this, it is not easy to repair. I hope it was a fluke.I am not impressed with the WiFi setup. It does not allow me to set a static IP address, and whenever the printer switches off/on it acquires a new IP address, and then Windows cannot see it anymore. I have no option but tell the router to assign it a static IP address, but this is NOT the way it should be. It is a silly and unnecessary firmware/software limitation.I have read a complaint that with A3 paper loaded, the paper tray sticks out - that is true, and so does the paper out tray. In my opinion, when you are dealing with an A3 printer, this is the least of your worries, and as A3 printers go, this is very compact indeed. Not a valid complaint.Lastly, as this is an inkjet, it will soon require fresh ink cartridges. Additionally I presume that long periods of inactivity, dry rooms, central heating etc, may dry out and destroy the existing cartridges. I have also read from one reviewer that using non-genuine cartridges may void your warranty with Epson. This is certainly something to take into account when choosing this or any inkjet printer. I personally may buy compatible (much cheaper) cartridges when the time comes, and as always, those cartridges have their own reviews on Amazon. But buyer beware. A laser printer is the only alternative to this problem but they are many times more expensive.I may revisit this review when I have used it a bit more and have tried compatible cartridges etc.
