Yoshitaka Amano: Illustrations: Volume 1 : Amano, Yoshitaka: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: An artbook for lovers of Amano - I first encountered Yoshitaka Anamo's artwork through the Final Fantasy series. But to simply call him "that guy who does FF logos" is doing him a dire injustice. Amano's artwork covers anime, manga, novels and original art projects. And this book is an excellent example. Like the "Journeyman" artbook related to Chris Moore, this is a large amount of artwork from across his body of work combined with interviews and comments from the artist himself about his life, career and style. The artwork includes work from his days at Tatsunoko Productions working on Gacthaman and other anime series, to his illustrations for the Vampire Hunter D, Guin Saga and Arslan novels, and samples of his original narrative art project Hero. A substantial section of the book covers his work on Final Fantasy, but it doesn't dominate the entire book as it might other works. This book does more than show what the man is like, but shows his style extends far beyond the stylised line drawings that adorn the front covers of Final Fantasy games. The quality of the book is superb, with paper that can take both careful and rough handling, and a general standard of construction that means you can just lay it on your lap and read - or just stare. The cover itself is two-fold; the dusk jacket and the book cover each have different Anamo illustrations. At the price (around £13 as of May 2019), it's more than a bargain. Maybe not as meaty as some art books, but it does a better job at demonstrating the artist's varied style and sensibilities than just focusing on his Final Fantasy work. A must-buy not only for Final Fantasy and Amano fans, but anyone who appreciates true art. Review: Breath taking - Simply amazing

Surprisingly nice for a paperback
Surprisingly nice for a paperback. Amano's work is always real nice to flick through, especially if you're brains not working and you need inspiration.

What is there to say? It is Amano's artwork. How can it not be awesome? Not just for FF and D fans.
