On 'Antisocialites', Alvvays dive back into the deep-end of reckless romance and altered dates. Ice cream truck jangle collides with prismatic noise pop while Molly Rankin's wit is refracted through crystalline surf counterpoint. Through thoughtful consideration in basement and abroad, the Toronto-based group has renewed its Scot-pop vows with a powerful new collection of manic emotional collage. Review: Great pressing, great album - My favourite of their three albums (as of January '25) and a really clean, crisp pressing. Strong recommend. Review: Well worth the wait, catch them live if you can. - Well worth the wait. Saw Alvvays live just before the album launch and they delivered this with some gusto. Glassy chime guitars, a hefty dose of jangle pop, retro Korg keys, ethereal vocals with bubbly bass keeping it steady. Molly mayhem going the full 19 rounds.

Close your eyes and count to ten.
They did it. They matched (perhaps even bettered) their first record. Congrats to Molly R and co. Arrangements, tones, song structures - all more ambitious. Pays off! Handsomely. :)

The Primatives reborn
good stuff but the Primitives did it with catchier songs in 1990 ? it's better than The Darling Buds. don't get me wrong I love it and I also love that 30 years in pure pop is still it style and enjoyed

for those who loved the 1st album
Sounding a bit cleaner and synthier (or Cynthia - now that's an album title) but hey, a band has to progress a bit and, for those who loved the 1st album, Antisocialites will surely not disappoint. It's basically ten tunes about the usual stuff we love and delivered in that unbearably cool way that only they can do. 3 years of waiting was tough and only time will tell if this can rate alongside "Alvvays" but this will be on my player for the rest of the year so 5 stars in an easy vote. I saw them live at End Of The Road festival in August 2017 and it was thrilling to see them bashing out old and new tunes is such a ragged and energetic way, like any band should of course. Molly's vocals are inevitably sweet on record but like they had a real edge which was so great hear.
