APC Smart-UPS SMT - SMT1000I - Uninterruptible Power Supply 1000VA (Line Interactive, AVR, LCD Panel, 8 Outlets IEC-C13, Shutdown Software)

Being in a semi rural area we are more prone to power cuts with fallen trees during high winds, occurs at least once a year. Recently our power company had to replace underground cables and we had a day without power. End of story ......NO! They had problems and needed to place our village on a generator for a while to investigate. Within days, and we hear about it so often, some thieves decided they would like to rip out the genny cables to sell for the copper. Cables replaced and a couple of days later a further attempt was made to steal the cables. In the meantime my company computers are switching on and off at a very unhealthy rate, not to mention corrupting files and my work. I had been thinking of getting a UPS for a little while but unclear on which brand or model to get. These recent events helped to focus the mind and knowing of the APC brand decided to take the plunge and go for their Smart-UPS 1000VA. This was based on other reviews of similar models, as well as going to the APC website and checking the various UPS models against my own estimated equipment load. There are higher rated models but the 1000VA suited my needs and budget. With the usual exellent speedy delivery by Amazon and with suitable cables arriving just 24 hours before the next scheduled power outage I was able to set the UPS up just in time to give it a test. Set-up was straight forward with cables taken from the UPS to my main computer which uses two monitors, router, network hard drive, Skype phone. The display shows the load as being usually betweek 16 to 21%, giving somewhere around a 75 minutes runtime if utility power is interrupted. When our power went off I ran the connected equipment for some 30 minutes, switching off only because I had an appointment and had to go out, otherwise I'm sure I could have got another 30 minutes out of it. Although the outage was scheduled it was absolutely brilliant not having the worry of the system just suddenly going off. Totally in control of the situation. It is early days and I'm still learning the full functions available but I like the display interface, which can be set to give standard "basic" or more advanced information. A USB cable connects to your computer where you can configure the UPS using the supplied Powerchute software. Overall I'm very pleased with the performance and would not hesitate in recommending it.

Nice unit if you can get it at the right price. Has a 'silent alarm' setting which is great - I know when the power has gone off, I don't need a bleeping bleep in my ear every few seconds thanks! I do like APC kit as a rule - but the Powerchute software is rather OTTY for home needs.

Reasonably easy to set up. Needs lots of leads to connect items to IEC 14 plug (like at the end of the printer cable. Bought a 4 gang socket which is prob OK provided not too many watts on it (router and mac mini hardly going to blow the lights out!). Works well with good audible beep when power is off - not had to use it for long but suspect my simple set up (mac mini, screen, router and HP printer) could be powered for an hour or so

We used a 'second-hand refurbished' "APC Smart-UPS 1000VA" for about three years. Really good device. Our IT chap noticed there seemed to be a problem with it at 'switch-on', so we purchased this new item. Very pleased. As we suffer from frequent, but, brief 'power-outages' from the National Grid, this BBU has 'saved' us many hours in data loss as did the previous one. Very highly recommended, especially if your business relies on computer reliability, as does ours.

I was shocked by its weight (despite knowing it would be heavy) However - it was smaller than I had imagined. Very easy to set up - runs a home server and an all in one desktop PC. Not more than 14% load. Have test by tripping the power - it runs for well over an hour. Will be attaching some more load (phone, router, modem etc) unless I have any issues with that I can only recommend this.

UPS works well, unfortunately doesn't include a mains cable to connect it to the socket. for the sake a a few pounds this is a customer satisfaction disaster.

This is used with a 24/7 desktop come server runing Linux using AMD FX8350 8-core (OK, read that as really 4) 16Gb ram. I use apcupsd for this SMT1000i model and my wife uses the same s/w for her older model ups. Both works well using this s/w. Runtime shows as being 85 minues with a load of 112v of 16% as the monitor, wireless phone , router, and Switched Hub being all supplied. Yes I have a modular PSU in the PC case of 750W. Battery when delivered only shows 92% and has not impreoved since but I have swapped that one out with a 3rd party battery which shows 100% and this reminds be to swap back to the original for a few months. Note that swapping out batteries can be done with the UPS on and mains power being supplied. I have had a few UPS over the years the last being a 2200 model when living in a village that did supper from power cuts but now moved into a town so such is some what more rare and for short duration and the UPS has coped without issues. This includes mains power maintainance that required the mains consumer unit being turned off for up to one hour.

This is a replacement for a previous unintelligent UPS. It is looking good so far but I have not yet installed the software as my server is being repaired. I have tested it by switching off the power with no problems.

che dire!?prodotto ottimo,non lo scopro io.APC è una delle migliori case costruttrici e anche questo prodotto ne è la dimostrazione.molto silenzioso,completamente configurabile,c'è anche un cd per l'istallazione del programma che permette di configurare tutte le funzioni,e,se abilitato,manda delle mail per informarti dei vari interventi che fa,anche se non dovuti alla mancanza di corrente,ma semplicemente perchè ha corretto una bassa tensione o una alta tensione.si può programmare lo spegnimento o l'accensione di tutto il gruppo o delle singole prese,che sono divise in due gruppi chiamate gruppo di prese principali e gruppo di prese controllate.io consiglio di collegare ad un gruppo solo pc e monitor e nell'altro le altre apparecchiature che avete,tipo modem,tv,impianti vari,ovviamente non bisogna superare il carico del gruppo di continuità.consiglio di comprare un cavo adattatore per gruppo di continuità,qui su amazon c'è,cosi da poter collegare la ciabatta al gruppo. nella confezione oltre al gruppo di continuità ci sono 2 cavi per collegare alimentatore pc e monitor al gruppo,un cavo USB che serve appunto per il programma di configurazione del gruppo(si può configurare anche dal display del gruppo di continuità)e un altro cavo che serve sempre a collegare il grippo al pc se non si vuole o non si può usare il cavo USB,e c'è anche un cd che contiene il manuale delle istruzioni,che non è molto chiaro e se non siete un pò pratici vi farà uscire pazzi per riuscire a configurarlo per bene.Comunque c'è sempre l'assistenza che risponde alle mail o alle telefonate,basta andare sul sito della APC.in conclusione prodotto fantastico,vale tutti i soldi spesi.

Bei mir musste aufgrund der wachsenden Leistungsanforderungen der Hardware eine neue, leistungsstärkere USV fürs Home-Office ins Haus. Etwas anders als APC kam aufgrund der hervorragenden Erfahrungen der letzten Jahre überhaupt nicht in Frage. Die Smart UPS versieht im Normalbetrieb ihren Dienst völlig lautlos und selbst im Batteriebetrieb ist eigentlich nur bei Volllast ein leises Pfeifen vernehmbar. Hier können sich die Mitbewerber noch vieles abschauen. Die Konfiguration ist unter Linux und MAC OS ein Kinderspiel, die beiliegende Software kann getrost in der Verpackung verbleiben. Nach Anschluss über USB wird sie sofort erkannt und kann mit Bordmitteln des Betriebsystems eingebunden werden. Das schicke Display kann übrigens doch im erweiterten Konfigurationsmenu komplett deaktiviert werden und schaltet erst bei einem Ereignis oder Tastendruck wieder ein. Selbst komplexere Systeme lassen sich über die umfangreichen Einstellungsmöglichkeiten der Smart UPS mit Ein- und Ausschaltverzögerungen, Gruppensteuerung und Wiedereinschalten nach Netzausfall professionell konfigurieren. (ein Tip zum Konfigurieren: einfach an den verschiedenen Ausgangsgruppen Lampen anschließen und die Programmierung testen. Das geht schneller und die teure Hardware muss nicht mehrmals ein- und ausgeschaltet werden) Für den Einsatz mit 1-2 Rechnern samt Peripherie solle die SMT1000 sicher eine halbe Stunde Netzausfall überbrücken können. Ich denke die Smart UPS ist gut angelegtes Geld und qualitativ eindeutig im semi-professionellen Bereich anzusiedeln.

En cas de coupure de courant, laisse 3 à 4 mn pour pouvoir fermer l'ordi et éviter de perdre les données. Il prévient également si la charge est trop forte pour pouvoir continuer à alimenter pendant au moins de 6 mn. Il délivre une alimentation bien stable qui protège le matériel des pics de courant secteur. J'en ai plusieurs dont un sur mon matériel sono.

il mio migliore acquisto! impossibile dire il contrario, alle volte si cerca di risparmiare pochi spiccioli sottovalutando l'importanza di certi prodotti che invece possono salvarti lavoro, attrezzatura e.. salute mentale... :-) avevo un altro ups, comprato in centro commerciale, con una potenza teorica di 1000 w.. è durato circa un annetto e poi ha iniziato a darmi problemi improbabili, spegnimenti e allarmi improvvisi, mettendo a rischio lavoro e macchine collegate.. con l'APC è tutto un altro pianeta, non solo regola la tensione in maniera costante (chi vive in case antiche o vecchie può capire) ma garantisce continuità, fornisce una stima del tempo di autonomia, ha un pannello che mostra i consumi, si possono regolare le funzionalità delle 8 prese, modalità risparmio, ecc.. ottima macchina, davvero, è un investimento che chi lavora con i propri computer e hard disk NON può risparmiarsi.

J'ai un serveur réseau (NAS) synlogy DS214play. L'APC smart UPS SMT est reconnu par le synology (port USB). L'UPS (onduleur) est simple et efficace --> plug and play ;-)
