Magpul MBUS 3 Front Sight Bundle with MBUS 3 Rear Sight Set, FDE, MAG1166-MAG1167

Love these sights; I actually bought both of these and the UTG to see which I liked better. The Magpul blows the UTGs away. The release and closure of the Magpul is much better and easier. You can do them both with one hand, not so much with the UTG. You can't even close the UTGs with one hand. It was worth the extra $25 for the Magpul. They lay flatter when closed and are easier to open and close. When I installed the Magpul they lined up perfectly with my zeroed Holoson optic; no zeroing in was needed. The only thing is they were a little tight on the rail to install, but that beats being too loose. I immediately bought another set in black for another gun after returning the UTGs.

My favorite back up sights. Easy to zero and holds it.

I am a rifle. For years I served faithfully with whatever sights happened to be attached to me. Then there were the previous sights. We do not speak of the previous sights. Technically they held zero. In the same way a weather forecast technically predicts the future. The zero wasn't a specification. It was more of a suggestion. One range trip: "Zero confirmed." Next range trip: "Adventure mode activated." At one point my owner spent so much time chasing the zero that we were practically conducting search-and-rescue operations. Then the Magpul MBUS 3 sights arrived. They are lightweight polymer flip-up sights designed for Picatinny rails and built for durability. Suddenly things became much simpler. Before MBUS Human: "I swear it was zeroed." Target: "Perhaps." Sight: "Let's see where this goes." After MBUS Human: "Still zeroed?" MBUS: "Still zeroed." Human: "Really?" MBUS: "I literally had one job." The installation was easy. The sights deploy with a satisfying snap. Most importantly: They continue pointing at the same place day after day. A revolutionary concept. Pros ✅ Lightweight ✅ Low profile ✅ Fast deployment ✅ Solid lockup ✅ Zero remains where it was placed ✅ Dramatically reduced existential crises Cons ❌ Removed my owner's favorite excuse ❌ Cannot blame wandering impacts on the sights anymore ❌ Places uncomfortable focus on shooter performance The first time my owner missed after installation he stared at the sights. The sights stared back. A difficult realization occurred. "Oh no." "It's me." Final Verdict ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent sights. Unlike my previous irons, these don't treat zero as a philosophical concept. I point them somewhere, and they continue pointing there. Frankly, that's all I've ever wanted in a sight. 🔫🤣 Old Sights: "Zero is a journey." MBUS: "Zero is a location."

Magpul makes great BUIS. These are no exception. I will say that I dislike the positioning of the deployment button on the gen 3’s over the earlier models. The buttons have been moved from the sides of the sights, which allowed them to be deployed at least by me, while still mostly maintaining a combat grip on the rifle. That’s no longer possible with the buttons on the top side of the sights. The older design seemed more robust as well, but time will tell.
