What is the diameter of the cylindrical section that goes through the door + length of cable?

Cylinder diameter is 18mm ---L ength of cord is about 60". There's certainly plenty to spare on my garage door

Do you fit this to the wall or to the garage door?

This fits to the garage door and connects to the door opener. When you put the key in the lock, the lock pulls out towards you - when the pull the lock all the way out it disengages the door opener mechanism from from garage door and you can open the door manually. The cord is long enough if the lock is fitted to the door, but it wouldn’t stretch to the wall, and works best when it is in line with the door opener mechanism.
