OSMO have produced a new, handy, sample sachet, which contains 5ml of product, a simple and cost effective way to trial their internal finishes.Sachets are available in the following product ranges, Osmo Polyx Oil Original, Polyx Oil Tints, and Polyx Oil Effect including Raw 3044 and Wood Wax Finish Transparent. I bought this specifically for its water repellant properties and I wanted a coating that would not add to much colour to the wood as I like the lightness of the natural wood and I don't like the 'wet' effect. This little sachet of product is really useful to test out the effect before buying a full size and I'd definitely recommend buying it to see if it suits your purposes. I used the packet to coat the edge of an off cut of my solid Beech worktop. I had enough to do 2 coats (2nd coat applied after 24hrs). I applied it with a microfibre cloth and rubbed it into the wood. See picture for the results. It did slightly darken the wood, but it actually looks darker in the picture than in real life. The wood has a nice smooth feeling and does look matt rather than 'wet'. It is water resistant as I dotted some water on an uncoated section of wood and soaked in vs sitting on top for the coated section. (see picture) I'm happy with result and I've already purchased the 750ml can to cover my actual worktop!

Worth trying a sample
Worth getting a sample if you have not used the product before.

very easy to apply
Worth the price to help decide the finish you want. Packaged in a small sachet and quick delivery, very easy to apply, just brush on with a cloth or a brush. Finish is very similar to the advertised pictures, I applied on an unfinished oak floorboards. Osmo was recommended by professional floor fitters as the absolute best for the job, maybe pricier than some alternatives however well worth it to protect and colour a wood surface.
