Intended as a supplement to private or group lessons, Basics of Keyboard Theory, Level 2 presents basic theory concepts to the advanced beginning music student. This level is to be used with the student who has had approximately two to three years of music lessons, and knows the following: 1. The Names of the treble and bass clef notes, sharps, flats, and naturals. 2. Rhythms in 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 6/8, including values of eighth, quarter, dotted quarter, half, dotted half, and whole notes. 3. The names of the notes on the keyboard. 4. Is playing piano literature at the level of the Anna Magdalena Notebook by J.S. Bach, or the easier pieces from Schumann's Album for the Young. Comprehensive yet not too much work.
I love these books for my students. They will be thoroughly prepared after completing each book over the course of the year. They cover all concepts necessary without dragging on and on. Highly recommend for teachers of young students!

Great book; Don’t buy “light wear”
The book is fine. My piano teacher pretty much skips book one and goes to book two. However, DO NOT BUY THE USED “light wear” books that Amazon sells here in this category. I received TWO 100% used workbooks. One I caught and returned. I missed the return window for the second. Really? Light wear does not mean 100% used. Happy with the book. Very unhappy with the seller.

This series of books is the best theory I have found
This series of books is the best theory I have found. Usually start my students in this series at 6th grade and above. Beyond Book 5, they can do well in a college theory class!
