Got these to hang up some string lights and they definitely have done a great job. The poles themselves look very nice with a black glossy coating that has stood the test of time in the rain and sun. It was easy to setup and I was able to mount my lights without a problem. The poles were able to handle all the light standards I stung onto them. Only reason for not rating a full five is that the quality control of the pipes and fittings isn’t the best. This leads to some leaning in the poles themselves although it’s nothing extreme it’s still noticeable.

I really like these 10ft string light poles! They were very easy to assemble and feel sturdy once installed. If Amazon's rating system allowed for 1/2 stars I would rate this product 3 1/2 stars, but I gave some benefit of the doubt and bumped up 1/2 star rather than down 1/2 star. Here's my lowdown: Poles are packaged in one box that consists of all the poles disassembled in sections. If I remember correctly each pole consists of five black aluminum sections in total and screw into each other to assemble. Each pole is a hollow metal tube about 1" in diameter. The top section is the claw shape that holds your string lights. The bottom section contains the tines that get driven into the ground. The tines, when buried do a good job of holding the pole in place. Now the concerning reviews about the poles being too tall and bending when stringing the lights are true. The poles when fully assembled measure ~10ft. and when put in place, hold themselves straight. But when you start stringing the lights, the poles start to lean from their center points due to the tension of the lights. I used standard patio string lights from Costco and this is mostly evident at my corner poles when stringing in a box pattern. You might be able to get less leaning if the poles are spaced less than 10ft from each other. At 15ft, you see the problem. I reduced the amount of lean by putting guylines on my corner poles, but this is not ideal. The tines used to hold the poles are a cool design where a set of stationary tines get stuck into the ground first. Then the second set of tines spin and slide along the bottom section shaft. Once the stationary tines are buried, you can rotate the second set into position, then drive those into the ground. I have seen reviews describing how the stationary tines sometimes break their welds when putting into the ground and I can see how that could happen. If you use a rubber mallet and patiently tap each stationary tine in little by little, that will go a long way to protecting from breakage. Then once the stationary tines are driven in grab the sliding tines, position them where you want left, slide up the assembly to get momentum and the drive them straight down into the ground. My ground was soft enough that I was able to do this by hand. Then with the rubber mallet finish tapping in all the tines so they are flush with your ground. It should probably take about 10mins to carefully assemble and drive in a pole, pending no cross threading on the pole parts and no dealing with rock hard ground. For the price, these poles perform as expected. I needed a non-permanent, seasonal solution for hanging patio lights and these did the job. It also helped me to get a visual of what I want when I get around to a more permanent solution (4x4 posts, lights ~12-15ft high). Now for solutions where the posts will be bracketed to something permanent, like a fence or a deck rail, this may be a great solution. Because these posts are built in sections, one can easily remove a few sections- shortening the pole but also making it more sturdy and less likely to lean. For temporary situations where the plan is to put up and breakdown the setup-like at a campground- these poles should be able to serve that purpose.
