How do you stop it from coming out of the tube by itself?

Be careful where you keep it. If it gets too warm ie if you keep it in your trouser pocket....it will come out and if you squeeze the tube too much it will shoot out. I have used Blistex constantly for over 20 years because I got burnt when doing outside craft fairs and I cannot wear anything else on my lips. The only thing that annoys me is when the clear liquid comes out instead of cream and it's just because it's not been mixed properly when it goes in the tube. Wouldn't be without it regardless.

What is the expiry date like on these from purchase

The expiry date is shown on the tube and on mine it shows 05/2019. Hope this helps.

Is this the same blistex as the one labeled 'medicated lip ointment' in the red package?

There is a difference but not in the ointment, they are the same. The one pictured is the old packaging where the tube points straight up with the hole at the top so when you squeeze it, the salve squirts out more than you need. The new one (the red packaging) has a a tube pointing straight up but has a hole on the side and only what you need comes out. However, the content seem to be the same and quite often you can get the older one cheaper.

Super Quick Fix

Best product for dry lip skin, cracking, soreness, and general chapped lips. Works a treat for my top lip, which becomes dry, crusty, and sore, usually during the beginning weeks of autumn. Had a weird flare up a few weeks back though, which could be due to the unpredictable weather we’ve experiencing. Stupidly, I did try everything else first, hoping not to need to buy this again, but as nothing else has worked, I bought the trusty Blistex. Within a day, my top lip is back to normal, no more issues.

Simply the best

Been suffering for a few years now with dried chapped lips. Probably due to age and working outdoors. Tried many different products and so glad I found this. It's the only thing that has worked properly. Use at night and a few times during the day. Surprising how long a tube lasts, because you dont need a lot of it with each application.

Way cheaper than buying from boots, I tend to lose these very easily so bought 3, already lost 2! One of the best products for chapped and sore lips and doesn't cause greasy spots to appear on your face after continued use. Will buy again!
