OXO Good Grips Apple Divider

I bought this apple divider to help speed up the process of making apple-based desserts. Prior to this purchase I was using OXO's own apple corer. However I often found that you could partially miss the core and cut in to the apple if the corer wasn't positioned completely straight thus wasting time, effort and apple (not to mention, you would still need to divide the cored apple). Then I came across this apple divider by OXO and I have so far been impressed. Soon after delivery, I used this apple divider to core and divide 10 Granny Smith apples for use in a home-made apple pie. Every single apple was cored and divided swiftly and precisely, saving me a lot of time. You can tell that this divider has good build quality and has been designed for ease-of-use. The metallic blades on this divider aren't particularly sharp, yet they effortlessly slice through apples like a knife through butter. I was kicking myself for buying a corer and not buying this (2-in-1) divider in the first place! Would recommend to bakers as well anyone whose diet includes eating apples regularly.

Brilliant gadget, love it. Well made, easy to use, especially for arthritic hands, and slices through an apple in seconds. Would recommend.

This is a brilliant tool. Works really well, but if your apples a bit wonky you'll get a small amount of core to trim out. Also chips potatoes into wedges.

Handles are large and easily gripped but it doesn't cut through an apple 100% - but not the end of the world, segments are very easily separated by a tiny bit of peel but just a point I noticed. maybe a design change or an idiot-proof accessory for it (like another which has a base on here) might help but it works well enough, seems strong but can be awkward to get enough pressure to get through an apple while fearing the plate might break underneath as it finally gets through, needs a bit of pressure/wiggling once lined up. When it works, it works well enough.....wonky apples need a little more care but that's no fault of the corer/segmenter. Could be sharper but on a wooden board (which I don't have) you could just go for it !

OXO makes great household and kitchen appliances. I always figured they only made stock cubes, for the longest time. Glad to be proven wrong though. I've used apple slicer / corers in the past, often really cheap ones coloured green or red and shaped like a generic apple, perhaps you've seen them? They all break in no time at all, the plastic eventually snaps or shatters from use. They're also not particularly nice to grip and use, they lack ergonomic handles and it often hurts your hands just applying force to the apple itself. Not so with this, the handles are really comfortable and easy to use and you can apple more force overall when using it, the whole thing is sturdy enough to go through apples like no tomorrow. It's a good item to have around your house - fruit is healthy and apples are cheap! The slices and coring just makes it more fun.

Great for making potato wedges.

I spent an inordinate amount of time researching apple slicers and took a chance on the Oxo model. It’s very well made and a good size which means it should accommodate a wide range of apple sizes. The blades are sharp and, whilst a bit of pressure is required to slice through the apple, it does the job perfectly. Some reviews have mentioned apple slicers not cutting the whole apple, however in my first 3 attempts, this model sliced all the way through the apple. The handles are raised which helps to ensure you don’t cut your fingers and makes it easier to press down without hurting your fingers. It’s worth noting that other products have left users with nasty cuts due to the blades detaching from the outer frame. This model uses metal blades which are moulded into hard plastic (as opposed to the other 100% stainless steel models) therefore I think there is less risk of this occurring. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced apple slicer, this one is ideal.

Buena compra. Cumple su función. Permite cortar manzanas con facilidad. Se batalla un poco en quitar la parte del centro pero fuera de eso muy buen producto.

One of the best gadgets. I wish I got one sooner. Not the easiest to clean so make sure ro run it under hot water right after using. Cuts my apples so easily and so perfectly every time. Really pleased with this purchase. If you know someone who loves apples, get them this gift. They will thank you :)
