Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey

The images are fab and the story is told very well. Reveals some great info you may not have heard before.

In my eyes, nothing will ever reach the level of the original Cosmos and the way Carl Sagan guided you through the wonders of the Cosmos but this remake is as close as anything will ever be. With stunning visuals, updated information from new discoveries/research and the wonderful way of telling you a story and explaining scientific concepts of Neil deGrasse Tyson (a worthy successor to Sagan), it should be seen by everyone in the planet.

Amazing. Educational. Inspiring. Could watch over and over again. Cartoons a little cheesy but who cares, you watch it for the knowledge and the insight into the Cosmos. A must have in your home!

A truly great work of art, that is a credit to the late Carl Sagan. Own it if you desire high quality production with equal high quality narration that clearly explains complicated concepts into layman terms, so we all can take part in learning about our Cosmos and beyond. Sound quality is exceptional when put through a good home cinema amplifier.

This became my all time favourite documentary series. This is a fantastic series that brilliantly simplifies some complex science while clearing up many misconceptions about science - the antidote to ignorance. Telling the stories of unsung heroes of humanity who sacrificed much to improve our understanding of the world. A brilliant message delivered by a brilliant host. Required watching.

I must admit that I prefer Carl Sagan's original production but maybe that's just because I'm getting old and nostalgic. Anybody interested in the Universe and Science will love this though and it's without question tremendous value at such a low price. Fantastic blu ray quality throughout and very informative to both young and old.

Beautiful visuals and illustrations. A journey into space, and through time. Very well told. The blu ray- disc arrived in time and in good condition.

This is by far my most favourite documentary series, I have seen all BBC Brian Cox, Universe series and some of the original Cosmos. This is not just informative, but also very entertaining. Very fast pace, won't bore you and full of neat CGI animations. I definitely recommend this to everyone who has any level of interest in astronomy / astro physics.

This series make it to the top of the best science documentaries. Very well explained, covers everything from atoms to the creation of the universe, with everything in between, including life. Very entertaining. There's a mixture of absolutely awesome graphics that are worthy of Hollywood films and other crude animation that resemble old documentaires, almost as if there were two graphics teams working on different episodes. I didn't mind that though, the subject matter was always very interesting. The documentary takes a few manipulative socio-political-drama side roads though, for example it tries to link extinction events with human activity to hyper-press the panic button on climate change, and takes a somewhat political stance on species evolution, leaving the impression they might not have much esteem for the audience's intelligence. That's not needed, even if they address contemporary social issues, those side roads really reduce its appeal as a scientific documentary, I would have much preferred a much more balanced, neutral approach to those elements without the dramas and leave the socio-political stuff to other shows. Luckily, there are plenty of good and balanced scientific episodes.

宇宙をテーマに、地球、生物、分子の世界まで目を向けて、これらを支配する科学的な摂理を解説した作品です。科学者であるタイソン博士が、奇妙な形の宇宙船みたいなもの（Ship of the Imagination）に乗り、宇宙の果から分子や原子の世界まで時空を超えて移動しながら、その仕組みを解説して回る筋立てとなっています。 かなり高度な内容にも拘わらず、平易な表現で科学の面白さを語りかける素晴らしい作品。Blu-rayの映像が美しく、オーケストラ演奏による音楽はアメリカのアドベンチャー番組を彷彿とさせます。ディスク４枚に13のエピソードが収録され、各エピソードが40分以上の大作。各々の内容が独立しているので、好きな所から鑑賞して楽しめます。 各々のエピソードには、大きな業績を残した人物がアニメーションで紹介されます。彼らの行動を通して、新たな発見をするまでの苦労や喜びを共有すると共に、真理を探究する際に何が大切なのかを、伺い知ることになります。 科学に興味のある方なら誰でも満足するはず。残念なのは英語版のみであること。英語の字幕があるので、これを見ながら鑑賞すれば、映像の助けを借りてある程度理解できるのでは。 紹介されたエピソードを私なりに一言で表現すると（英語タイトルの翻訳ではありませんよ）。 1. Después de haber visto la serie en un canal de TDT español me animé a comprarla. Tras leer varias críticas comparando la edición española con la que se vende en otros países, decidí desechar la edición editada para España y comprar ésta. Ya llama la atención que, lo que en otras ediciones ocupe cuatro discos, en la española se conformen con meterlo sólo en dos. No puedo comparar con la edición española pero hay que decir que, tras haberla visto por televisión, verla en Blu-ray es como verla por primera vez. Con razón la gente la alababa tanto, la imagen, el sonido y los efectos especiales. En defensa del canal que transmitió esta versión por televisión hay que agradecer que lo hiciera en "prime time" y sin cortes, pero la calidad de imagen no llegaba ni a la de DVD. Además, leyendo comentarios "de gente que entiende" por internet, por lo visto el HD no consiste en los 1080 puntos simplemente. Influyen además un montón de parámetros más a la hora de editar un vídeo. En éste todo es perfecto y la imagen hace justicia a unos efectos especiales a la altura de cualquier superproducción de cine. Si la presentación es buena, el contenido es todavía mejor. El doctor Neil Degrasse Tyson tiene la difícil tarea de suplir nada más y nada menos que al mismísimo Carl Sagan. Para los que tenemos una edad es difícil que logre sustituirle, pero hay que reconocer que cumple su tarea a la perfección. Ya antes de realizar este documental era una figura bastante reconocida a nivel de divulgación científica, con apariciones incluso en series de televisión (The Big Bang Theory) o protagonista de memes en internet, barómetro totalmente fiable hoy en día para comprobar la popularidad de una persona. Seguramente sea la persona perfecta a día de hoy para presentar una serie de tal calibre y actualizar "el primer Cosmos" con los descubrimientos de los últimos años. A pesar de estar en inglés, los subtítulos incluyen el castellano. Pero a poco que se tenga un nivel aceptable, no cuesta nada entender el idioma original de la serie. La pronunciación del docotr Tyson es impecable, no hace falta esforzarse mucho para entender todo lo que dice. Quizás resulte difícil verla en inglés para alguien que se esté introduciendo en temas de cosmología o astrofísica, pero para el que hay leído un par de libros o visto un par de documentales y esté acostumbrado a escuchar ciertos términos como agujeros de gusano, horizonte de sucesos o discos de acreción, no le será nada difícil entender de qué se está hablando en todo momento. Por cierto, puedo certificar que ya sólo se sirve en un simple amarray de plástico y han suprimido la funda de cartón con la que sirvieron las primeras ediciones.
