Creamy and very high quality oil pastels
After a botched attempt on using colouring pencils on adult colouring books, I thought to try oil pastels instead and bought the Mungyo's set. I also had the Pentels 25 set for a year and the Mungyo's are an absolute dream to work with in comparison. Very buttery (now more so in the summer), creamy, vibrant and layer far better than the Pentels. It doesn't take much effort to lay down colour, and it's also far less waxy. When you put one colour on top of a previous colour, they just do not go muddy/smear the first colour underneath like with the Pentels. It's worth noting these have not been tried on pastel paper, and only on the colouring book I used, so it might perform much better when the right choice of paper is used. In this case the oil pastels do layer very well on the colouring page, but when it came to impasto effects, it became a little muddy (as seen in the flowers). I don't use any solvent/q tips when using these, and laid them down straight from box to the book. The only downside is that the white doesn't layer on top of other colours well, and best to get a Sennelier white if you want better highlights and not just mixing. Overall, I love these and highly recommend as a starter set, or for anyone looking to upgrade.

Good quality, great price
Good quality soft oil pastels. I wasn't sure whether to get these or expand my collection of Sennelier oil pastels. The Sennelier are undoubtedly superior, but I use them up rather quickly as I can't resist smearing them on like paint! Since I'm in the early stages of learning how to use this medium, I went for the much cheaper Mungyo version. The main difference, which is immediately noticeable, is the crumbs created when using the Mungyo pastels. However, it's tolerable. The pastels are soft and layer well, giving a result not entirely dissimilar to Sennelier - but they're not as soft. On the other hand, I have seen one reviewer describe them as 'a bit hard', which I certainly don't agree with. (Maybe the other reviewer was using them cold - oil pastels really do need to be just a bit warm to work properly.) I don't use blending tools (or fingers), preferring to blend the pastels in layers on the paper. The Mungyo pastels do this well, and I'm pleased I bought them. In fact I wish I had bought more, as I would prefer a larger range of greys and earth tones. These are certainly good enough to use as a step up to Sennelier, or indeed without any intention of buying anything else. They come closer than I thought they would to the painterly effect I can achieve with the top-of-the-range pastels

Beautiful, creamy, high pigment load, excellent quality for the price.
Love these, everyone compares this to sennelier. Although not having used the Sennelier ones, I find these of excellent quality, creamy with high pigment load. At this price it’s a no brainier. I will probably get the full set in the future.

excellent set
It is my first drawing with pastels and in general. This is so satisfying. It's super creamy, it has incomparable beautiful tones. Although my drawing is very new, I feel happy and satisfaction Seeing that looks beautiful! Even if I don't have any drawing technique. This oil pastel set is therapeutic. I enjoyed it a lot! Note. I think it is a bit toxic and there is another version of this that is not for what I was investigating so be careful not to let children near this and to wear gloves or try not to use The fingers.

Misleading advert and I believe these to be 'knockoffs'!
Those sent to me are not the Premium pastels described. They are in broadly similar packing but they are not professional oil pastels. Compare the picture with my box. Im not even sure they are genuinely Mungyo Gallery! All premium Mungyo pastels have the product code MOPV and then the quantity e.g. MOPV- 48 or 72. If the code is MOPS they are student grade. So these are MOPS. ..if indeed they are Mungyo. See the code on my photo In terms of quality.... The box is poor I've seen better cereal packets and chocolate box inserts! There is no swatch card to fill in, no product guarantee or instruction leaflet in the box. No foam to protect the pastels. The pastels themselves are small like crayons 60mm and sadly that's how they perform just like kids wax crayons. Nothing soft about these, the word 'soft' does not appear on the box. It's difficult to layer colour and they don't blend easily. They cost £13.80, I suppose that's the point, the genuine Mungho soft pastels are not that cheap so these are not right for Gallery pastels. The student pastels are also according to Mungho packed in a different design of box with clustered pastel stick ends on the box. All are made in China for Mungyo Korea. Can't even give these to my young Grandson because they aren't non toxic. They took 3 weeks to ship to me. The only good thing was the tracking. They were poorly packed and the flimsy box was knocked about, not even shrink wrapped. Very disappointed but if something looks a vargain it probably isnt, I won't be buying the brand again , its put me off. There are other good brands out there. Mungyo needs to sort this problem out in China. Avoid.

Soft and blend well
These pastels are a joy to use - they blend effortlessly, have a soft texture, and don't flake or leave chips. While they may be pricier compared to other quality pastels, I believe they're worth the investment, especially if you're creating art rather than just sketching. The superior performance and durability justify the higher cost, making them a worthwhile choice for serious artists.

I purchased a set on a whim because it is so inexpensive. I love them. They are creamy, affordable, and the colors are fabulous. I am over 70 with arthritic hands and I can blend them with ease. They do seem to cure overnight and dry out a bit. . After one day, I ordered the 72 piece set. That’s how much I like them. This set is fine for a beginner. They give the feel of working in pastels or oils with minimal cleanup, no toxicity or odors.. Set up requires opening the box and getting a damp paper towel and some Q tips. Blick’s website rates them as nontoxic. Light fastness is poor. You can fix this by framing with UV protective glass, should you produce a masterpiece. You will run out of white quickly. Order this from Jerry’s Artarama. Or just get a different brand. If you are a beginner you will enjoy using 2 or 3 colors in one spot and possibly blending. . Certainly worth $20. Far more expensive at Jerry’s. I’m assuming this has to do with tariffs, so grab these.

I recently purchased Gallery Mungyo soft pastels, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. The colors are incredibly vibrant and blend beautifully, making them perfect for both detailed work and larger washes. The creamy texture allows for smooth application, which is great for creating rich layers and gradients. What impressed me even more was the fast delivery. My order arrived well-packaged and just a couple of days after placing it. This quick turnaround made it easy to dive right into my projects without any delays. Overall, I highly recommend Gallery Mungyo soft pastels for their quality and the efficient service I received!

Heel fijne pastel. laat zich uitstekend verwerken. Goede kleurvariatie en niet te zacht. Zeker een aanrader, ook vanwege de prijs!
