Do you ever stop to wonder how you got where you are? The Q&A a Day Journal shows you what was going through your head each day—for five years of your life. Simply turn to today’s date, answer the question at the top of the page, and when you finish the journal, start over. As you return to the daily questions again over the years, you’ll notice how your answers change, or don’t! With questions that are sometimes provocative (“On a scale of one to ten, how happy are you?”), occasionally quirky (“What can you smell right now?”), and inevitably interesting (“If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?”), this classically designed journal—embellished with beautiful details—is the perfect gift for anyone embarking on a new phase of life. 365 questions. 5 years. 1,825 answers. Review: Great for people who want to start a diary but stuck for what to write - I really wanted to start writing a diary, not so much to document my life, but just for something to look back on in years to come. I'm no good at the traditional method of keeping a diary because 1) I never know what to write that isn't the same mundanestuff. 2) I usually always give up within the first week or so. This 5 year journal is perfect for people like me. It gives you numbered pages but with 5 blank year dates so you can start at any time of the year (just simply turn to that day) and even if you stop and then start again later down the line, it doesn't matter, it'd just mean you might not have the same years written all throughout the journal. For example I started it half way through 2011, stopped after a month or so and then started again 1st January 2013. I did read through some of the answers I'd written 2 years ago, and it was interesting to see how things have changed since then, and also to have a nice reminder of some joyful memories I had forgotten about. People might not think that they can change within the space of a few short years, but the answers you will write in this journal for each day for 5 years, is proof that you can! It's also a nice way of jotting down some special things you don't want to forget. Some example questions include: What is your mission? What is the last TV show you watced? Jot down a news story from today. How much spare change do you have? What was your favourite day this week? What's your hairstyle? Today you wore _____ Where do you think you road is going? Bad news: sugar coated or straight up? Who is the last person in your missed calls? Halloween plans? What's your costume? What time did you go to bed last night? Did you meet someone new recently? If so, who was it? Yes or no: everyone should have a back-up plan. This journal is a great way of getting to know you, and how you've changed over the years. It asks both insightful and random questions, so every aspect is covered. It also makes a nice memoir of yourself to read in later years or to give to your children etc. My only problem is that I cant wait to answer the question for the next day! Review: I love this diary so much, and look forward to filling it it every night! - I adore this diary.... I originally bought one for myself whilst on holiday in Vancouver, but since then bought one for my Mum and God Mother as mother's day gifts. Ordered a further 3 for my Mum to give to her friends as gifts. It is a really nice way to compile a diary, asking you both deep and light questions, which challenge your thinking in nice ways, and will allow you (in a few years time when filling out the same day) to look back and reminisce! For example - What are you wearing today? What song is stuck in your head? Did you kiss anyone today? Who is your nemesis? What is the last thing you ate? I imagine I will buy more in the future, as I cannot fault it as a gift for anyone. I would say it is more likely to be deemed a gift for a lady, however, I know many men who would find this useful in aiding a release of thoughts at the end of the day.I am looking forward to 5 years time already, so I can see how different my years have been! You write in the year yourself, so it is pretty much timeless... people can start it from the day you give it to them. Also, if I miss days, I just go back and fill them in based on that day (if I can remember) or 'today', I just make a note of the true date for my own sake! I love this so much, highly highly recommend.

Beautiful.
This 5 year journal is very similar to the "One Line a Day: A Five-Year Memory Book" by Chronicle Books. I managed to whittle down the vast range of 5 year journals available to these two. This one won and I am so glad I chose this one. Both "Q&A" and "One line a day" are very similar, with both being: - the same size - the same quality thick pages - the same quality binding - the same gold edge finish to the pages - available to start wherever you are in the year, not just Jan 1st Besides the cover, the only difference is that the "One Line a Day" book is just that. Blank every day, ready for you to complete. It has 4 or 5 lines per day, repeated per page, and the year 20___ for you to fill in on each entry. The reason why I chose Q&A is that it also has this, but it has a random question at the top for you to answer, or not. On a day that is relatively uneventful, I choose to answer the question rather than write a few lines about my average day. It makes a change. It breaks the monotony of keeping a diary. On days that I would rather remember, I decide not to answer the question and jot a few lines on my day. Simple! The cover is similar quality and feel to brown parcel paper and feels like it can withstand a battering. The pages are a nice creamy off-white colour, and thick and smooth. I would hazard a guess that they are around 100gsm. You cant see through if writing with regular ballpoint. and the pressure from writing on the page doesn't protrude through either - of course, this depends on how hard you push, but if you push too hard, maybe you need a easier flowing pen. The lines are tight though, about 4mm. You may need to learn to write real small, but due to the size of the book, I am very happy to adapt my writing since I find the book to be a perfect size. It will not take up too much room in the bag when I travel, or even on my bedside table. It feels like it will last 5 years or more. I dont plan on throwing it around the room to test its sturdiness but it feels like it would survive an accidental drop of two. The label on the back cover was easily removable, and has revealed a blank back cover. The same pattern and frame as the front cover, just blank. I'm thinking of putting an encapsulated photo of my family there... Or maybe an ongoing doodle... Or just waiting for inspiration for something else to go there. Its a nicely framed space so it would be a shame to waste the frame! I absolutely love this journal. If I had to pick a negative, it would be that it could do with a nice black ribbon marker so I know what page I am up to. There is currently nothing that comes with the journal. Good job I have plenty of bookmarks.

Lovely gift
I've had this diary for almost 2 years now, and I have still managed to fill in everyday. Sometimes I miss a day or two so I go back and fill them in and try and remember how I was feeling on those days. ] I got this as a gift when I was 14 (I am currently 15) and the thought of me filling this is in until I am 19 (and almost 20) is scary and cool at the same time. It makes me think of where I will be and how i would have changed. Even now after almost 2 years it is quite cool to look at my answers from last year and see how much I have changed and how some of my answers are exactly the same. I look forward to the next few years, where I can compare multiple years and see how different (or similar) things are. It's a great way to keep track of who you were a few months/years ago, and a cool way of seeing how you grow and evolve. I would definitely recommend this product as a birthday or Christmas gift.

I love this idea for keeping a short note of something ...
I have been looking at this for quite some time, and bought one for myself, one for one of my friends, one for my mum, and a slightly different one for another friend. I love this idea for keeping a short note of something that's happened each day, and see how your answers change over the course of each year. There are 365 different questions to be answered for each day/year, which amounts to 1,825 answers. There are some real "make you think" questions, or some easier questions such as "what are you currently reading". So far, I'm only 3 days into the new year, but it's a simple book to pick up each day and write a quick little sentence, prompted by whatever question appears. It's not like you have to sit down for 30-60 minutes each day, and write a lot about your day (or when I was younger, boy problems!) You can quickly get fed up of writing down your experiences each day, or it becomes a chore, whereas this is quick and easy. There are four lines per year to fill out, and it's customisable, to include which year, as you can see from the photos. I'm just hoping I can keep it up and it won't end up too ruined by the end of the five years! I would definitely recommend this, to give as presents to friends, or keep for yourself.

Alternative memory book
Such a great idea. Almost like journaling, except you have just a line to write your answer for the day. Bought one for my sister too

No better Journal
Insightful questions to answer each day of the year for five years which is amazing! Takes less than 5minutes to write in it every evening and I know it'll be great to look back and compare answers written on the same day of each year. Definitely recommend as it's so much easier to commit to writing in than other journals because there is a question you have to answer rather than thinking of something to say. It's also great for quickly writing anything important that happened during the day, if there's enough space after answering the question! Well worth the money and fun to use, will likely laugh looking back at some of my entries. If you're the type of person who enjoys writing but are sometimes stuck on what to say than this is the journal for you!

I LOVE this journal
I'm halfway through my second year of this journal, and I still update it consistently (which, if you knew me, you'd realise is a great endorsement!). The questions are thought-provoking and can inspire other projects just by getting an internal conversation going. It's really one of the best gifts I've ever given myself, even though it can be painful sometimes - sometimes I can't bear to look back at my previous answers, and sometimes my present-day answer is a direct response to my last one. It's totally up to you how you respond to it. It's beautifully made, the gold edging is gorgeous, and the binding is still going strong after nearly 18 months of daily use. I loved it so much, this Christmas I bought one for my boyfriend and I bought 2 copies of the children's version to give to my niece and nephew. My nephew declared it to be "the most epic present ever". (He's 8, my niece is 10). The children's version is 3 years instead of 5 years so it has bigger spaces to accommodate drawings and children's bigger writing; they're both still using them, 5 months on. My only criticism - and it's a small one - is that the questions sometimes sound a bit U.S.-centric. One of them is "East coast or West coast?" which suggests "North America" to me, because it's not like a land-locked country would ever think to ask such a thing! I think there are also questions like "Republican or Democrat?", if my memory serves. But as with all of the questions, there's plenty of room for interpretation and ad-libbing, so I wouldn't drop a star for that factor. It's such a genius idea, I wish I had thought of it myself! Kudos to the people who made this.

Must buy!!
It's really high quality and looks very aesthetic. I bought it as a gift for my brother and he loved it. Must buy!!! I was a little concerned if the quality of questions would not be up to the mark but I have read about 40 at random and they're really good questions. My only issue is it's a little small in size but the pros make up for it.
