Slipknot are back with their fourth album, `All Hope Is Gone', recorded this spring in Slipknot's home state and co-produced by the band and Dave Fortman (Evanesence), mixed by Colin Richardson (Machine Head). All Hope is Gone is more of a statement than a record. Corey Taylor comments, "Every album we have made is a statement about that space in time. I think this era is the most mature, most beautiful and the most powerful. We have made an album that will show the road behind, the road ahead, and where we are as men. I think it's the best thing I've ever made. And I challenge anyone to prove me wrong." The album blends element of 2004's Vol 3: (The Subliminal Verses) and 2001's Iowa, while adding a perspective, freshness and depth that only three years apart can bring. The first single "Psychosocial" is a bruising, anthemic stomper that only the `Knot can master, while follow-up `Dead Memories' sears with blistering melody . Review: Good quality - Arrived in good condition Review: Great CD - Great CD, ive allways been a fan of Slipknot. Not the biggest fan of Gehenna but still good

Divisive, subversive and still the very best.
Any album that divides opinion, alienates, opens doors, creates hate, tears, annoyance, but most importantly reaction of such extremes is to be, firstly, applauded. And this, dear readers, is one classic example. The angst ridden earlier works of Slipknot went deep into the psyche of those who loved them. Here was a band that whilst comical to the unfamiliar thanks to the masks, went deep, very deep into the hearts and minds who took the time to embrace what they represented. They meant something to people, they expressed their feelings and depths of dispair about the world that crushed them down. Almost punk, a bit hard core perhaps. The spirit of Black Flag, for example ran deep.. SO, All Hope is Gone comes along, a work of dexterity, depth, variety and ... well almost commercial acceptability. And why the hell not? De we really want the same old groove all the time, or do we want an artist, or group of, to open up their hearts, veins, minds a bit further, to mature, to find others to join the clan? I do and this is right on the money for me. There are great songs here, real, true life songs that will keep Slipknot in the hearts of most fans and will bring in new ones and that is progress. More of this please, the scene is moving on, the Mastodons of this world have upped the ante, can Slipknot follow...? You bet.

It's a classic
After finding the original CD case empty, thought I'd buy a new copy. Typical though as I've found the original now, 2 copies are better than one right ! Amazing album.

This is Slipknots 4th album and as far as i,m concerned there best. On this album its not just noise for loud sake its structured and thought about. I think its the band growing up and maturing.I,m a mature MetalHead into Motorhead etc so it appeals to me and i think it is meant to appeal to all Metalheads not just there young fanbase.Again less than £2 from Zoverstocks and this is the cd/dvd version and the dvd is a making of the album where you see the band no masks, no gimmicks just 30 year old men making a metal album even if it is done a bit strange with often going about in paper mache heads?.

This is a review for the special edition cd/dvd with 3 bonus songs. The album itself is a mixed bag of melody and rage, buzzsaw guitars and lots of heavy drumming & precussion. The samples and turntables are toned down a bit on this album,Corey's voice is on point. Mixing some of the oldschool hardcore aggressive vocals and then the more melodic songs and vocals. The heaviest tracks being(in my opinion) Gematria:The Killing Name,Vendetta,Butcher's Hook,This Cold Black,Wherein Lies Continue & All Hope is Gone. The more melodic more tame songs are the singles,Sulfer,Dead Memories,Psychosocial and Gehenna is a mix of both heavy and melodic just like Snuff(the most mellow of songs but hauntingly beautiful. Excellent guitar work, the bass is laid on thick and heavy, excellent drums and precussions. Now to the bonus songs, Child of Burning Time is a mellow track kinda reminiscent of Stonesour. Vermilion Pt.2(Bloodstone Mix) that i actually enjoyed & i'm not a huge fan remix but this one i enjoyed. Til' We Die is my favorite of the 3 bonus songs it is mellow but excellent guitars and vocals. Now to the dvd portion, the dvd isn't really that special but it was nothing major. You don't get to hear anything from the band giving their opinion of the album or talking to the camera. I would have expected a bit more, like some interview footage. They blurred out Craig Jones face(#5) but you can still see it. You get too see them push a car and light fireworks. Then they show Sid(#0) with his mask mold and then you see Corey(#8) in the vocal booth. About 1-2 minutes of each member messing with their gear and laying down notes. Then you see them wkimg with the big heads from the Psychosocial video and it is only 32 minutes long. Nothing special but the special edition i got for the extra songs. If you don't already have th album i'd suggest you get this(it was cheaper than the original) go get this album you'll enjoy it.

Ein fantastisches Thrash Metal Album, das mich trotz seines moderneren Stils total an Metallicas "And Justice For All" erinnert. Sind 20 Jahre dazwischen, aber "All Hope Is Gone" hat dieselbe Klasse und den gleichen Wahnsinns-Hörfaktor! Eines der besten Metal-Alben aller Zeiten!!
