Will these fans do well in cooling an aio? can anyone recommend a review of their performance in this role? thanks

Hi, In my experience the fans draw a lot of airflow so do work well on an AIO. As these fans are much thinner than the traditional thickness, make sure you have the correct length screws otherwise you could damage your radiator when attaching them.

Can you control the speed yourself on these or is it only automatic? and what am i losing by going for a slim fan instead of a standard one? thanks :)

Yes. It depends on your mb. I am using this fan on a lga 1150 motherboard and i use an app called speedfan to control speed. I use this fan in a small form factor case. Hence the slim fan. If you have room in a standard case I would go with a standard fan.
