Yes; I've used with with Windows 7 and found no compatibility issues.

how easy is it to set up or is it just plug and play?

it takes longer to take it out that horrible heat shrunk wrapping than it does to plug it in your USB port and play. You may have to go into your control panel "sounds and devices" and change some settings in there from speakers to headphones etc just so your pc has stopped speakers and using headphones or vice versa, I don't know exaclty as i don't have speakers, but on my laptop I had to configure the control panel settings to tell the laptop to stop using the inbuilt speakers and use the headphones. Just thought i would sugest this if you did have any problems. Overall, for the price, these headphones are well worth the money, many friends comment on the clarity of speech received and they are comfortable, letting just the right amount of air to circulate around to stop your ears sweating as you can get with other over the ear style cups. Yes this headset was recommended by a relative whom I Skype often and it works just fine with my MAC

Is it good for gaming

It's fine. It's not 7.1 surround or anything, but it's clear enough stereo and if you need it great speech and comfy to wear over time. But it isn't a substitute for proper surround one if your playing FPS games.
