This is the Fifth Edition of what has become a standard bestselling text on the tools, systems, and principles of Lean Manufacturing and Lean Operations. The Lean Toolbox covers Lean Philosophy, The Science of Lean, Improvement, Change, Strategy, Flow, Mapping, Scheduling, Layout, Quality, Product Development, Supply Chain, Lean Accounting, and Lean beyond the factory floor. It is aimed at managers and practitioners. Previous editions were known for their concise style and wide coverage. Over 120,000 copies of the previous editions were sold. The last edition was recommended by APICS for their International CPIM (Certified in Production and Operations Management) examinations. The book is prescribed by several universities in UK, USA, Denmark. The 4th edition remained on desertcart.co.uk's top 10 on manufacturing for 5 years. This is a complete revision and update including 40 additional pages. Review: Great - Very useful, it's a prescribed textbook for one of my modules. It explains lean manufacturing techniques in a manner that's both easy to understand and apply. I'll be using this book for the rest of my working career. Review: It is sufficiently broad to cover all but concise enough to be a time efficient - This edition gets longer as more useful material is added. The first edition was 165 pages and the fifth double the length. The format remains a "lean" telephone directory where you can look up a subject (excellent indices) that you want to learn about and get a concise, well documented and illustrated explanation. You can alternatively read it front to back and it follows the same logical structure of chapters with the subjects arranged in the right order for implementing lean in an industrial organisation. Chapter numbers are missing on the page headers and the page headings are in smaller font than the 4th edition. Many subjects and chapters have been extensively rewritten and based on my "telephone directory" sampling improved for the better. As a consultant in operations management and a teacher of the same for MBA students, this is the text I give to my clients and my students. It is sufficiently broad to cover all but concise enough to be a time efficient tool. Highly recommended for browsers or students.

Great
Very useful, it's a prescribed textbook for one of my modules. It explains lean manufacturing techniques in a manner that's both easy to understand and apply. I'll be using this book for the rest of my working career.

Good advice, can associate and implement
Enjoyed this book and have learnt new processes and ideas to implement. Heavy going in some parts and some of the thoughts / ideas would not be relevant to everyone but worth reading if you want to apply lean processes to your workplace.

A "must have" reference for anyone wanting to start or improve a manufacturing or service process
This edition of this classic work has been expanded and developed to generate a go-to text for manufacturing improvement programmes. It brings together the thinking of key proponents of manufacturing change form the Toyota Production System, through Eli Goldratt's Theory of Constraints, the concepts and calculations embodied in "Factory Physics" to Motorola's Six Sigma and demonstrates that all these are different views of the same object which can all contribute to a Lean Manufacturing way of improving production processes. This is a must have reference for anyone wanting to start or improve a manufacturing or service process.

Good book to read and learn it is full of information guiding the reader through the principles of Lean giving examples and how to use them.

I used this book as a bible in one particular manufacturing class at university. Very easy to read and good for referring to specific sections depending on what you would like to know!
