Great little compressor
Seeing as my old cheapo tyre compressor was on it's last legs it was time to look for another, reading the good reviews on here I opted for this one by Ring and have not been disappointed. This compressor is easy to use, basically plug it into you accessory socket or cigarette light as they used to be known, attach the compressor to the tyre valve, switch it on, set the pressure needed and away it goes, it stops once the correct pressure is reached. You can set the required pressure in PSI, bar or Kpa, this compressor is very quick compared to the other one I had and is not overly noisy. There is also an LED light that can be used as a torch or flash mode. Ring have supplied this compressor with adaptors for bike tyres and a ball needle, it also come with a bag for storage in the boot. Since this purchased I have bought another one of this compressor for my father, he also loves it. Why mess around at the garage (and pay for the privilege) when this simple and easy solution is available.

Every Motorist Needs One - Excellent
Forget any other brand for aircompressors, I was tempted between this and the more expensive Micheline models, but opted for this due to its small size, and handy, neat carry bag. I'm very particuar about my tyre pressure, I check it every week with a seperate pressure gague, and usually top up my air every 2/3 weeks. It works very well with any measurement, PSi, BAR and KG/CM. I prefer BAR, my my Dad borrows it, and he like PSi. Display is back light, so night time reading is easy. Auto cut off is excellent, just set your desired pressure and you're off, you can do something else like dip your oil as the tyre inflates. Takes up no space in the boot. The tyre delate option is really good too, and you can deflate to an accurate level are the pressure gague on the compressor updates as your deflate. I have this unit for over a year now, as mentioned above, I use it fairly regularly on 2 cars, and it's working just as well as the day I bought it. My only cons would be the LED light, it's not particularly great.....it's actually fairly useless. I've a Led Lenser P7 and a Petzl Headtorch in the car at all times anyway, so the light isn't a big feature for me. But it's something to bear in mind if you are buying this compressor with the intention or relying on the provided light. It's only good enough to find your dust caps. I found the valve connector a little bit fiddley and plastiky, unscrewing it from the tyre valve could be smoother, you do loose air, but I'm nearly certain the compressor gives a little extra air to compensate. When I check the typres with my other gague, the readings are at the desired level. Once you get the hang of it, you can minimise the air loss(as I unscrew the hose from the valve, I usually press the hose into the valve as I unscrew it, and this minimises air loss for me anyway. As connecting the hose to the valve can be a little combersom, I'd encourage people to use a seperate pressure gague for their regular checks, and use the compressor strictly for inflating It's a great unit, and something every driver should own! Ring owe me some commision at this stage, at least 5/6 friends & collegues have bought this unit after seeing it in action. At work, when ever anyone has a flat, I'm known as the 'guy with the pump' so it gives you a good oppotunity to rescue damzels in distress!

Excellent, apart from a few minor points
I've had this compressor for nearly 6 months, having bought it to replace my Halfords Power Pack 100 which started to cut out due to overheating and had a very poor analogue dial which was hard to read accurately. Having read all the reviews I chose this Ring RAC630, which was £20 at the time. It has been used a fair amount as one of our cars which is only used a couple of times a month has 2 leaky alloys (garage couldn't find a puncture). It does the job very well. You set the required pressure and then leave it to it until it cuts out. It will inflate from flat in a few minutes. I have found that the measured pressure then drops by about 0.5 to 1 psi after it cuts out, so it needs a short second burst to reach the correct pressure and stay there. The digital readout means I can get consistency across all 5 tyres. I can't comment on its accuracy. It has a useful torch for doing all this in the dark! It is a little noisy, but less than my old Halfords one, and it does wander around despite its rubber feet. For some reason it didn't work when I connected it to the 12v utility socket in the boot of my wife's CR-V. It sounded like it was dying, but when I plugged it back into the cigarette lighter it was fine. I have two main grumbles with it. Firstly, the power cord is too short to reach the spare tyre in the boot. My main car is a saloon so I can't pass the cable through the car. Either I have to perch the unit precariously on the rear wing, or get someone to hold it. Secondly, the cable tidy is very basic. It has to be wrapped around the base and then Velcro-ed in place. Having said all that, I would definitely recommend it.
