Great product , got everything out first time after a week of using other metal and plastic combs daily and getting nowhere . Highly recommend this product . It's more expensive compared to a regular nit comb but the grooves really do work wonders on tough nit eggs.

I have two young daughters (9 & 10), both with fairly long hair. My eldest had the dreaded lice a couple of times about 3yrs ago, but nothing since. My youngest - well she's a different story!! For the past 18mths / 2yrs her head has been a popular tourist attraction for the little critters! We have tried every lotion, potion & 'sworn-by natural remedy' known to man. Of course, when you treat one head, you have to treat them all; so, with 5 in our household it's a pretty pricey pass time! In fact, if we had saved everything we have spent on these 'guaranteed' treatments, we could've had a fortnight somewhere exotic I'm sure!! About 5wks ago whilst sitting behind her on a bus, I saw the all too familiar movement I had been dreading since the last debugging 3wks earlier. I trawled websites looking for something I hadn't tried, and stumbled upon the Nitty Gritty comb. I thought 'there is no way a comb alone can work!', but after reading a chunk of the glowing reviews I thought it had to be worth a bash. I did warn my daughter however that this was the final straw - that if this didn't work, her precious locks would be leaving the comfort of her scalp!! Well 4wks on and my only complaint is that I did not know about this amazing little piece of kit sooner!!!! The first couple of comb throughs were a little unpleasant, watching the army of bugs and its campsite being dropped into the bath; but we have done it every few days since (and on the rest of the family) and whereas before there were visible eggs / egg casings still in her hair after most treatments, now there is nothing!! She is completely free of them, much to my and her relief!!! I have told every parent, grandparent and anyone who has anything to do with children I know about this comb - it really is the best thing since sliced bread!! Easy to use, incredibly effective, ridiculously cheap, chemical-free and comes with a lifetime guarantee! What more could you ask for?!

If you have kids you absolutely need this in your cuboard. We have purchased a couple of these from Amazon in the past they just get the job done. The quality is so much better than a standard nit comb. Easy to hold and the little ridges on it help to catch any eggs.

I have 5 kids, 4 of which are girls with quite long hair. The war against nits is one I've been waging for several years now and the Nitty Gritty comb is the best weapon I have against those nasty little critters (the nits I mean, not the kids). I've used every type of lotion, oil, mousse there is. I've had different sprays and even used the electric nit combs along with a selection of different designs - and none are as successful as this. In my mind the best defence against nits are the Nitty Gritty comb combined with the Hedrin 4% solution. The Hedrin 4% solution is the only nit lotion I've used which is succesful (it's an overnight one and doesn't dry too greasy, if you blow dry your childs hair the next morning it doesn't look greasy at all). But it's expensive and at one stage I was spending over £50 a month on the stuff, now I use it only if there's a bad infestation to bring the numbers down - but I don't like using because (not only is it expensive, but) I don't like using chemicals like that on their hair all the time. The Nitty Gritty comb has long "teeth" so you go through more of the hair per comb through, the short stubby nit combs only go through the surface and you have to keep bunching the hair into sections. The teeth on my Nitty Gritty combs have not become mishaped over time, it is incredibly strong and solidly built. The handle end has rubber grips too which make it easy to hold - even if you have used nit solution or conditioner. The 'twist' design of the teeth supposedly make it easier to catch the Head Lice and eggs, and I have to assume it works because this does an excellent job of extracting them. My personal preference is to have a mug of hot water next to me and I simply dip the comb into the hot water after every swipe through the hair, that kills anything on the comb and I simply wipe the comb on the towel and continue on. If the nits are *really* bad then I treat the hair with Hedrin, but since I've been using the Nitty Gritty comb, I've been able to keep on top of it and I can remove any new nits which make their way onto my children's heads at school. In a nutshell: This is genuinely the best Nit removing product I've ever used, and I've used pretty much everything! The fact that this site is full of similar comments just shows you how fab this is.

The only thing on the market that removed the eggs as well as the lice! After weeks of lotions and shampoos and itchy scalps of 4 kids - we are now nit free. Totally worth it and not like other combs, its very sturdy and doesnt bend at all. I’m so pleased!

Item itself is good, but overpriced for what it is.

Even though as a comb it works well removing all the lice, it has a small gap where the lice, eggs and dirt get stuck and is quite hard to clean.
