Kodak 1808674 Portra 160 120 Colour Negative Film (Pack of 5)

This is a terrific film. I have used it many times. It is particularly good for showing skin tone, but is also a good, all round fine grain film. The seller's price was attractive.

A beautiful film for portraits, extremely fine grain and lovely tones. Responds best to warm colours in my experience but works great for blues and greens too. I shot 2 stops overexposed as I do with most colour film and it responded very well with beautiful saturation and pastel highlights. Heard great things about Portra and was not disappointed, will be buying again.

I've only recently started using Portra 160 having been mostly doing my own B&W films processing but it has impressed immensely. The whole thing with films is that they each have a unique 'look'. You choose the film depending on the results you want. Something like Velvia is famed for it's amazingly deep and vibrant colour saturation and is frankly amazing , in the right hands, for landscape work. Portra's look is about nailing skin tones first and foremost and it does this amazingly well. Colours overall are generally subdued but it's the skin tones that are just so good... There's something else, I'm finding it difficult to put down in words but I find Portra has a slightly ethereal quality but this is of course totally subjective but I really like that aspect of the film. I've found it really easy to scan on an Epson V750 and when I nail the focusing on my old Mamiya RB 67 (see attached sample shot) it produces very sharp negatives. It's a film I've instantly fallen in love with as it produces a kind of subtlety in the final image that's can be time consuming to reproduce in Photoshop with digital files. And have you seen the price?? I've picked up 5 rolls of this in 120 format for less that twenty quid. Unbelievable! Stock up and make sure they never stop producing this!!!!

Portra has fine grain, great colour if you process the scan correctly and can deliver superlative flesh tones. If you do film, especially at 120 you should give it a go. A 6x7 should deliver a grainless sharp metre long print- if your technique is up to it!

Great but I get better results with the 400 personally

Favourite studio portrait film which I rate at 100 rather than 160. Suitable for most skin types except Chinese/Japanese for which I prefer Fuji Pro 400H

Portra is my go-to film. I love the 160, 400 variants - I occasionally use the 800. I use the 400 when shooting natural light and use the 160 when shooting in studio. If you're shooting film I would highly recommend you give Portra a try.

Arrived quickly, well packaged. Pleased to see that these films had a long shelf life.

I use this film for landscapes and portraits with medium format. the film is beautiful, fine grain, and wonderful tones and texture. (This roll film, I develop my self).

Mit dem Portra 160 hat Kodak wirklich einen klasse Film rausgebracht! Ich nutze die Filme bereits seit ca 1 Jahr, um mit meiner Kiew TTL zu fotografieren und bin bei meiner nun vierten Packung Filmen angelangt und wirklich begeistert. Auch wenn die Farben variieren können, anbei zwei unretuschierte Beispiele, muss ich doch sagen, dass ich mit den Ergebnissen durchweg zufrieden bin! Meiner Meinung nach sind die idealen Lichtverhältnisse bei direktem, bzw. teilweise vorhandenen Sonnenlicht bis zu kurz vor Sonnenuntergang, da es ansonsten zu dunkel wird. Die Hautfarbe wird, wie angegeben, sehr natürlich und nicht orange. Da ich nur Abzüge der Architekturaufnahmen gemacht habe, kann ich diesbezüglich leider kein Beispiel anhängen. Am besten testen Sie es selbst aus!

Kodak 120 Professional Porta Color 160 Film, is a top quality product. It serves well for any subject matter in its ability to capture the most subtle variation in both color and value. The hues are rich without looking too saturated (which can of course be desirable with different films under other circumstances) capturing a lovely, fine grain, naturalistic quality. When shooting portraits or any shallow space subject matter, Porta Color handles reflected light and color beautifully. The ISO of 160 works well under a variety of light situations. The combination of 120 format and the use of a tripod can deliver some spectacular results. Reasonably priced, too.
