Brilliant cello stopper
In my opinion, this cello stopper does the same job as one you attach to a chair. It has been vital for me and my cello practice and I would highly recommend it to anyone who plays the cello. Material: The rubber is high quality and looks great. The solid plastic in the middle also works very well so you can even put a cello spike without a protector right on it. Size: This cello stopper is very small and is hardly noticeable. It is about the size of a tennis ball and blends in well to the floor. Under the black cello spike, it is virtually invisible. Price: I didn’t find 10£ too much but for what you get, it is quite expensive. I would owe that to the fact that it is patented so no other company can make it for better prices. Even though it is 10£, you will get so much use out of it (probably) that it is very worthwhile in my opinion. I have been using mine daily for the past couple of months and it has served me well. Problems: This is the one problem you were probably expecting when you saw this... slipping. I found it to slip occasionally but only when it was dirty underneath which makes a lot of sense. So all you have to do is wash it and it is a good as new. I found it to be super non-slip after washing it but I usually just wipe it on my clothes which does the job. Apart from this, there was no other major problems. It didn’t break or anything like that so I’ve been happy. Here’s a comparison between this and the cello stopper for your chair... Pros: Cheaper than it Smaller Easier to set up Looks better Doesn’t require a special chair Cons: Not as secure Worse quality Not guaranteed to keep Cello up on every floor Overall, I would highly recommend this product for any cellist. If you practice a lot you will get great use out of it and it will be invaluable.

Excellent little device - wouldn't be without it
This is the second of these 'Black Holes' I have purchased this year - the first one disappeared after a concert, which was very annoying. Previously I used an older similar item made with slightly different material but that has never been as effective as this one by Dycem. My cello is very old and the spike is not suitable for the little rubber endpin tips and it slips without using some device or other to hold it in place. The Dycem Black Hole is very effective, much more convenient than the devices that you attach to the chair leg, and simply washing it restores its 'gumminess' when required. Highly recommended.

Excellent for keeping cello in position
I was quite surprised at how effective this is at keeping the cello pin in place. Hitherto, I'd used one of those anchor things that hook on to a leg of the chair you're sitting on, but with some chairs or stools this can be awkward, and re-positioning can be a nuisance. The Black Hole, a kind of rubber puck with a hole the cello endpin sits in, can be positioned easily on the floor, and adjusted easily too. I've used it on polished floors, wooden floors, and carpeted floors, and the cello has been held securely on every surface. Also helps protect flooring from endpins that are not rubber-capped. Essential little gadget for every cellist.

Second hand?
Looks second hand. It’s dirty and rough around the edges. Are these second hand black holes?

Did not slip
My cello is very heavy and it srayed in place on a wooden and Tiled floor I was able to play fine and is easily portable and You can put it in your cello case. Bottom line is that you do not have to worry on spending £20 on a top quality one as this Is perfect it was a bargain in my mind if you had to squeeze me For a problem it would be that it is very easy to loose and You cannot ue it on a carpet as it will slip

Not really good...
I don't know whether it's the floor too slippery or the black hole is just not so good... It still slipped when I put it on tile floor

Magic!
Ever struggled, as I did, with a sliding, gliding cello over smooth flooring, or having to use bulky, ugly wooden boards with slots?..This great little "slide stopper" will give your cello a totally secure grip on any surface. So simple, small and ultra effective. The most you need do, when it eventually gathers dirt is to wash with a bit of washing up liquid, rinse, and hey presto you're back in business..
