I recently had a huge maple tree chopped down, and the stump ground. With all the wood chips flying around, he missed a few outlying roots. I tried a few other tools I had on hand, but nothing worked. Saw this, ordered 2, and gave it a try. It was perfect for my needs. A few caveats. I paired it with a Dewalt drill, and it went through batteries very fast, have spares handy. Also, make sure whatever you're carving on is dry as possible. It will clog up the wetter it is. I had to stop occasionally and take a wire brush to it to get it unclogged. But, it stays sharp and looks like it will last quite a while. Very good for the price point!

Purchased a few of these for one good purpose, to grind out surface tree roots that were killing my back when mowing the yard. These discs will absolutely eat wood but be extremely careful. Review and understand how a high speed grinder turns this disc and how it pulls the grinder. Have an extremely tight grip on the grinder when you first start using these discs until you become familiar with how to maneuver the grinder. Always use the side of the disc that contacts the wood pulling the grinder away from you. Wear appropriate protective gear. If this disc comes in contact with your body fully expect to loose skin and more. These can dig through a leg in nothing flat, worse than a chain saw! If your using them on hardwoods they will dull fairly quick so have a few extras on hand. Checkout Youtube for videos on using these discs. Stay safe!

I've always been on the lookout for quality reasonably priced carving disc. First use of this was outstanding. This disc hogs out wood like none I have ever used. And I've used many. Well worth the price.

Somewhat dangerous grabs sometimes but if the stump is wet will load up and stop cutting. I do like it.

This carving disc shaves off wood rapidly and effectively. A word of warning, practice with it a bit on some scrap pieces of the kind of wood you're going to "carve." It takes a bit of getting used to. You can reduce a plank of wood to sawdust pretty quickly! *grins*

This product works well and fast. It was used to smooth and round off surfaces on railings. It's larger surface made the work more efficiently done. Of course using both hands and safety precautions are a must as well. Great product!

I feel like I should preface this review by telling you I grew up in a wood shop, worked in the timber industry for three years and now build custom homes. I only mention that to emphasize that I've used a lot of different tools, This is the only tool I've ever been scared of. In the hour I spent trying to use it, it would cut fine the out of nowhere BAM it would kick away from the project. Every time it would kick it would not only try to take a chunk out of you, but also dig a huge gash in the wood I was carving. Honestly I gave it too many trys before it finally went through my glove and took a chunk out of my hand and I gave up. It's worth noting I was carving clean pine with no knots or abnormalities. I was carving very gently, trying to do everything I could to operate safely and it just kept kicking.

Using this on my grinder to clean up edges of some wavy edge siding I am installing on my workshop. Works very well for this purpose. Cleaned up 1200 lin ft of siding with no issues.

This grinder did exactly what I wanted. I ground out a stump centre to create a flower pot, and it turned out great. Make sure to wear a face shield as the chips are flying when you start grinding.

This is a great and fairly aggressive wood removal tool! Works great but watch what you are doing, a 10,000 rpm angle grinder can kick back in any direction. Get the feel slowly and this will be a great addition to your carving or wood shaping project.

I had a very dead tree removed in my backyard, but the stump remained. I bought this to try to carve down the stamp, but it was just too much for it. I ended up having to rent a stump grinder, however, I did use this to smooth out some of those edges. Wood does get stuck in the teeth, I feel like it needs to come with a wire brush to clean it out every once in a while.
