I purchased the Varia radar unit about two years ago. Love it, and wouldn’t ride without it. But I’ve always been concerned about the security of the Garmin mount using an O ring to attach the mount to the seat post. I Searched high and low to find something better, but haven’t been able to find anything that fits my “D” shaped seat post. Alternatively, In lieu of a better mount I’ve been searching for a way to secure the unit. Finally, I found this product! It checks all the boxes. It provides security, knowing that if the mount fails the unit will be saved by the tether. Performance does not seem to be affected. The tether attaches the unit to the saddle rails. Just be sure to let it dangle before you attach the unit to the mount. You want to make sure it doesn’t hang so low that it gets caught in the wheel should it fall off. A very small amount to pay for the piece of mind knowing that your $200 radar unit won’t be lost on a ride.

This case looks sleek and professional when installed. It works perfectly for its intended purpose, which is to provide a tether so that if the mount your Varia radar is connected to fails, it stays hanging on your bike and does not fall to the ground and break. The white color greatly increases daytime visibility, too. It's amazing how much more easily noticeable the device is attached to your bike with the white case on than the original black. I do wish that the case was reflective so that it could double as a reflector at night to accompany your tail light, since some states require a rear reflector in addition to a light. The fit is secure and a perfect match for the Varia, with openings in all the right places for the light to be visible from both the rear and the side, and for the radar to work properly. If the case interferes with the radar range, it is very minimal to the point of not being noticeable. I ride with a helmet mirror and when the radar alerts me and I look in my mirror the approaching vehicles are no larger than before I installed the case, meaning they are about the same distance behind me when the radar first detects them as they were before I installed the case. This product looks great and does its job. Highly recommended.

I was riding along a road a few years ago, hit a bump and my Garmin radar unit popped off and went screeching down the road to an ultimate death. Decided, I have a lot of money in electronics on my bike, maybe I should setup a backup plan in case the mount failed (which has happened to me a few times). This case and tassel fits great and is easy to apply. I wrap it around my seat post on every ride and now I have a lot more peace of mind about my investment. If that mount should fail, it will remain connected to my bike and I'll save myself from another expensive replacement.

I hadn’t realized that there was such a product until I was looking for other (rack & seat post mounting) accessories for my Garmin radar. But I am glad it exists since I sometimes worry losing the expensive radar on rides. The product is simple & cheap but it serves the purpose, & gives me confidence about the radar staying on the bike. Perfect Size. Design allows for lights to be seen on each side. No interference at all with radar. Easy to get on and off. Really perfect, and the cherry on top was the fact that it comes unbranded. I really hate the embarrassing no-name brands that get printed on some Amazon products. "Takewell" is not printed on the cover, even though it is shown to be printed in some (not all) of the photos. I'll buy a backup now in case they change their mind later :)

I’ve been using Garmin’s Varia radar taillight for about 18 months. It works so well, that I really don’t want to ride without it! This case & lanyard just adds more peace of mind that the Varia won’t be lost on a bit of rough road or trail in the middle of nowhere. Installation is (literally) a snap, the case is barely noticeable, and the lanyard loops easily through my saddle rails. Giving it 4 stars only because the button to turn the light on/off is a little harder to press now than it is w/o the case. But overall, this is a minor issue exacerbated by the fact that I wear full-finger gloves and have a small saddle bag mounted directly above the light - so getting to the button isn’t as easy as it might be for others.

The case offers excellent protection with its durable, hard-shell design and snug fit. It keeps your radar safe from scratches.

It works well on sunny days. It's solidly attached. However, on rainy days, there's going to be mud and dirt accumulation between the radar and the cover. You need to take it apart to clean it thoroughly after your ride. Can be better.

You don't need one until you do. After seeing an ad for a found Varia Radar, I thought a tether might be a good idea. I already have one on my Wahoo Roam. I once had my GPS bounce out of my out front mount due to the screws loosening in the mount. If I hadn't had a tether, the GPS would have been thrown off the front of my bike. My seatpost mount for the Radar seems pretty solid, but so did the GPS mount. Although the cover is advertised as being for the RTL515, it also fits the older version that I have, the 510. Probably a good security measure as well as more difficult to steal while you're having a coffee. The cover fits snugly and I have it tethered to the seat rail.

real good protection for pricey radar camera and keeps it cleaner and attached especially when you unlock it from bracket to avoid dropping your radar camera.
