Forces make the world go 'round - literally. This book provides a quick and easy-to-understand introduction to the quantity force and an overview of the many types of forces that shape our universe. Besides enlightening and down-to-earth explanations, you'll find plenty of detailed exercises demonstrating how the concepts and formulas can be applied to real-world situations. Knowledge of high school algebra is sufficient to follow the calculations. For more information, check out the table of contents. From the author of "Physics! In Quantities and Examples", "Introduction to Stars: Spectra, Formation, Evolution, Collapse" and the "Great Formulas Explained" series. Review: Physics for everyone/ how to think like a physicist - This book is a powerful insight for how to look at the physical world in a rational, quantifiable way. It is written for regular people to understand and talks its way through the necessary formulae. I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in physics, anyone who is about to take a physics class, or anyone who simply wants to know more about how the world works. Review: A fun read. - Also a great refresher.

Easily Understood Math--Some Erroneous Concepts
As I read through this book I thought 'wow wish I had this when I was I high school and college'. The presentation is straightforward, the math solutions are well presented and easily understandable. My problem comes with some of the author's concepts. With math at this level the author should know there is no such thing as centrifugal force (there is inertia and centripetal force) but there it is, even in a title no less. Also the author confuses mass and weight, another relatively basic and important distinction. So I ask myself, what other concepts are being misrepresented that I don't know enough about to recognize? Having said that, my opening remarks still hold; straightforward, clear math explanations which is a plus in anybody's book.

A suggestion for another book
Examples and explanations are clear and easily accessible to just about anyone with an interest in physics. So much so that I would like to make one suggestion to the author - Please write a similar book (or even a few pages) that addresses forces as applied to the field of amateur astronomy. I would very much like some help in understanding the rotation and orbits of planets, binary (or larger) star systems, even galaxies, and how it all interacts. Thank you!!

If you like physics or just applying maths this is a fun book. You can just browse through if you don't want to read it front to back. Many interesting equations with worked examples.

Seems interesting, but...
...for a book that expects to be trusted for having reliable formulae, the table of contents isn't numbered properly. I hope the other information within is correct!

Okay for beginners
The book was good, it is very much so for people who are unfamiliar with physics and are shy of math. The author holds your hand through any math, and is mostly algebra and trig in a few cases.
