Good, but different than the one that comes with the machine
I broke my overlock foot that came with my machine (marked G) after accidentally choosing the wrong stitch width. The force of the needle was enough to snap the small metal bar that used to separate the left and right side of the stitches. I ordered this replacement foot and it seems to work fine, but it is different in design from the other foot. It has a large metal spatula that sits perpendicular to the fabric and overhangs the front of the foot. This part is much larger than the former metal bar on the old foot. There is also a larger/wider metal bar that separates the left and right stitches so there is probably no danger of it snapping again if the needle were to hit it again. Overall, I think it's an improvement over the old foot.

Works great on my machine
A family member gave me a Brother sewing machine because she never used it (my main machine is an old metal viking, I'd never used a Brother). She bought it at Costco, it didn't come with anything but a bobbin, a needle, and a presser foot. I have no idea what model it is. I purchased this foot and just hoped it would fit. It fits great! It was easy to install. The stitches look wonderful. Given I went into this blind I couldn't have hoped for better. A great, solid, smooth foot!

Really works!
I go back and forth between wanting a serger and being content with just my sewing machine. I took a chance on this presser foot because I could certainly get a lot of fabric for the price of a serger. I'm glad I did because this foot really works! I'm able to create a perfect overlock stitch with minimal effort. I have a Brother XL3750 machine with an included overlock stitch, but the machine has a tendency to pull the fabric to the left so my stitches stretch out from my trying to pull the fabric to the right to keep it on track. This foot has a little piece in the middle where the threads overlay and I think this is what takes the tension off of the fabric in order to keep everything distributed evenly. I may still get a serger someday, but this meets all of my needs for now!

Good replacement for feet broken by this forgetful sewist
I switch between a straight center stitch and an overlock frequently, and sometimes I forget to switch my stitch settings after I switch feet, so end up attempting to stitch through the overlock foot. The little tab the stitches collect on and then slide off of will get nailed by the needle. Most of the time, the needle breaks, but after a few of these batterings, that tab gives, as well. I wish that little tab was more durable, but it is nice to be able to purchase these feet as necessary. In my studio, they are a consumable resourse, like needles or thread, so I end up buying a couple at a time.

Good, reliable overlock foot!
When my sewing machine tangled up a mass of thread and snapped the thin metal bar on the overlock foot that came with it, I went hunting for a sturdy replacement and found it here! I was worried this would be a cheap, no-name imitation but it came in Brother brand packaging and fit my Brother XR4040 machine perfectly! And when I say it fit perfectly, I mean it snapped in place instantly with no fuss and worked with the "default" overlock stitch settings without hitting the thin metal plate or bending the needle. It was literally snap-and-go PERFECT! Even better, it has a thicker metal piece than the flimsy one that came with the machine. After sewing dozens of items, the machine misfed again and put pressure on the foot in the same way it had before but this foot did not snap! I'm very, very pleased with it and it is holding up well even though I am putting it through its paces with a 300 piece project! I couldn't find the part info I needed to verify this was the right foot before I bought it so I'm going to list it here to hopefully help others: This SA135 foot is the same/fits the same as "Overcasting Foot "G" Part XE6305-001" listed in the manual that came with my machine. It DOES fit Brother XR4040 computerized sewing machines. It DOES have the letter "G" on it and come in blue Brother brand packaging.

The middle bar is wider than the genuine overcast foot which originally came with the machine.
My original overcast foot which came with the machine when I bought it was destroyed during a needle strike. I jumped on Amazon in hope of next day delivery but this one seemed to be genuine accessory from the Brand Brother itself, so I decided to buy it with 2-day shipping. However, I was in a middle of a project so I got to my local shops to buy a third party overcast foot while waiting for the shipment. The foot worked fine, but with a caveat in mind. Compared to the original foot which came with the machine, and the ones I bought at my local shop, this foot has a smaller width and bigger middle bar. My machine’s auto overcast setting is 3.5mm in width but the needle scrapes along the middle bar causing a streaking noise. I have to increase the width of my overcast stitch to 4mm so that the needle does not contact the middle bar. If this is a genuine part from Brother, since it ships and sold by Amazon, please consider quality consistency of your products since might cause issue with computerized machine’s auto stitching settings. Always hand crank to test first before speeding up your foot pedal.

Overlock foot is SWEET!!!
I'm new to sewing, and I really liked finished edges so I've seriously considered investing in a serger at some point. I read reviews from people who considered this foot an affordable alternative to a serger. I'm very happy with it. I like how the fabric is guided right through neatly. It's easy to use, and it fit my sewing machine well. So far, I'm in love! No serger for this lady for now :)

Great addition to your machine to avoid getting a serger
Loved that for the price, I can avoid purchasing a serger. Saves space, and this does a decent job for small tasks.
