I picked this up originally because I was trying to deal with plosives, the P sounds, S hiss, all that stuff that can make recordings sound harsh or poppy. I didn’t expect a huge difference at first but it honestly helped a lot more than I thought it would. I’ve used this filter across multiple microphones over the years. Started on my Blue Yeti, then moved it over to my Audio M Nova, and now I’m using it on my Tonor 777. So it’s definitely been through a few setups and it’s held up the whole time. Build quality is solid. The mesh and inner layers have lasted years for me. The only thing that didn’t last forever were the rubber bands it came with. A couple of those broke and I lost the others, but that really wasn’t a deal breaker. I just use a small scrunchie band to hold it on now and it works perfectly fine. Sound wise it definitely cuts down on plosives and helps tame some of the high end hiss from S sounds. It’s not magic but it noticeably smooths things out, especially if you talk close to the mic. I also run mine with extra filtering, like a foam windscreen or sock over the mic itself, so I’m basically triple filtering. That plus software filters really helps isolate the voice and cut background noise. Obviously a full isolation booth is ideal but most people aren’t doing that, so little upgrades like this help. For around 10 bucks it’s honestly a solid buy. Cheap, durable, and it does what it’s supposed to do. If you’re recording vocals, streaming, or doing voiceovers it’s definitely worth having in your setup.

I have a Blue Yeti and it took a while to get it to fit right but once I did it was perfect. Had clear sound with no pops and no distortions at all. The sound quality significantly improved versus before (no filter at all). I had to turn off things just to have a decent recording but now everything gets blocked and comes out clear. Very good produce for the price.

EASY TO USE AND SOLID PRODUCT

Honestly, this mic shield works, but mostly by way of cutting sound and air from reaching the mic. The best feature is that it fits pretty close to the mic and doesn't make up a ton of space or cover your face. But I actually think a foam cover would be just as good if not a little better. The fitment is pretty hit or miss. An Audio Technica AT2020 would probably fit well. I had to make it fit my MXL 700 microphone, which is round instead of kind of oval shaped. I heated the body at a distance with a heat gun. Stretched it to be wider and let it cool in that position. I broke the rubber tie that it comes with so I used a longer elastic tie that I salvaged from an old shock mount for another microphone and retied it around my MXL. But.. You probably won't have that. So I got lucky. It's better for protecting against plosives than nothing at all, but I still have to use good Mic technique an aim the mic at my mouth and not my mouth at the mic to avoid plosives. At $13, it's not exactly a bunch of money lost but... I'd probably rather save the money and spend it toward Stedman or something similar if I had it to do over again.

This pop filter is just the right size to cover the Blue Yeti microphone (see pictures). I like how small the form factor is, allowing you to see in front of you (and a camera/person can see you). It looks very professional. You need to use all 4 of the provided rubber bands to do this. There should be two already installed on the pop filter and two more in the box. Simply tie them together in pairs of 2 and reinstall them. There are two plastic half circle pieces behind the filter screen on which the rubber bands are stretched. You can actually clip one of these half circles onto a Yeti microphone right after the lip separating the body from the grill (metal mesh), which is also where one of the rubber bands will rest (see pictures). The tension is barely strong enough to hold the Yeti in place, but I still prefer to use the rubber bands for safety. This placement is just the right spot for it to stay forever, and I never have to worry about bumping my pop filter again. Since it is directly attached to the microphone, it goes wherever the microphone goes. Overall I recommend this to anyone looking for a smaller form factor pop filter that still covers the entire microphone, at least the parts you'll be speaking into. Note: if you clipped the pop filter on and it isn't covering the whole microphone grill, then turn it upside down and try again. The clips are not evenly spaced on the filter, and you want to have the one that is closer to the edge of the filter clipped onto the microphone.
