Just wanted a basic, easy, no frills phone for an elderly relative. This is excellent. Easy to set up and easy to use. Clear and easy to see screen and buttons.

Got this for hubby. He's chuffed to bits - it does what he needs it for and it's easy to set up.

My mother in law is 90 and her mobile network started to send messages saying that her phone - a Doro, and the previous model to this one - would soon stop working due to 3G being switched off, so we had no choice but to upgrade. We picked this one as it was the successor to her current phone, was the same size and form factor, and we thought it would be pretty much the same to use, but there are some differences. It's a clamshell phone and is most definitely not a smartphone, so you'll not be able to use apps or even do much online here, so as long as you really just want to be able to use texts and make & receive calls you'll be fine. There's a camera and FM radio (haven't tried these) and an emergency button on the back which, when set up, allows you to send an SOS message with a single push to specific contacts, but again we haven't tried this. The phone comes with a charger and a stand which you can place the handset in when not in use (the charger can plug into this to allow it to charge while in the stand). Battery life seems OK but as always it depends on how much you use the phone, and it seems fairly quick to charge. The screen is large and bright, and clear to read. There is a small screen on the outside of the phone which lights up with an icon showing if a text or call is being received and the name of the person as long as you have them in your contacts. Sounds from the phone are loud, and in use the call audio is clear. The only issue we have with the phone is that it is just that little bit different to use than the old one, so any "muscle memory" has to be forgotten and this can cause confusion for older users if you are switching them from an old handset. We've had a number of occasions where we've had to tell her how to send texts, only to have to go over it again a few days later, and several times when she's called us when trying to delete a text, which is alarming when this happens late at night. It's not that it's difficult to use, it's just that it's that litte bit different to how the old phone was. As is the case these days, the phone comes with minimal instructions in the box - enough to be able to insert your micro-SIM card and battery, charge it up, switch it on, identify the core features and what the buttons do, but that's all, and if you want a longer user guide you can download this from the Doro website.

Bought this for my father, he loves being able to watch the weather (thatโs the only internet app heโs ever used). The flip function means he can know that he shut down a call for sure. He can also easily read messages using the OK button (but he cannot compose one, he never has).

I first purchased a Nokia 2720 flip as I have always had Nokia in the past, but the battery and 4g signal was awful. I had already purchased the doro for my wife so reluctantly returned the Nokia because of the issues I had with it. I then decided to purchase the second doro to replace the Nokia and I'm glad to say that I made the right decision and I am very pleased with doro,it's a nice compact easy phone to use, sound is clear, menu system is easy to follow, display is clear and the battery life is brilliant. Also one other bonus feature I would like to mention is that it has a very good quality mp3 player which when connected via Bluetooth to headphones or speakers gives an excellent sound experience, I just inserted an sd memory with music I had downloaded then go into files then select music and it's up and running......GREAT PHONE
