Good taste, great coffee substitute
This is a very good substitute for coffee. I have really band acid reflux and recently my doctor told me to quit caffeine and coffee in general, so decaf was not an option apparently. I decided to try chicory. I usually drink my coffee black, with no sweetener or creamer. This was basically my only option since people said it was the closest to coffee taste (which I love) the scent is more like vanilla-ish than coffee and for me, it took me a week or so to come up with the perfect amount of chicory for my 16oz cup because the first times it was bitter. Now my "coffee" is perfect every morning and I will definitely purchase this again. The only ingredient is chicory so you don't have to worry about weird stuff. I highly recommend it

Happy with this. No problems.
Well, the taste is great. Tastes very similar to coffee. Maybe 80-95% similar. There are some notes that coffee doesn't have, which remind me of maybe black tea? It's a bit bitter in a black-tea kind of way. Almost like if you mixed coffee and black tea together. I wanted to get this for possible health benefits, and appreciate this company seemed like they were careful in how they made this. It's from France, not India, and the price is good for getting a whole pound. I bought this because I read it helps with gut health. Apparently it can help kill some bacterial and fungal infections by making the gut healthier, and I believe this is happening for me. Be aware this can upset your stomach, and I'm taking a smaller amount of the Chicory as my stomach adjusts (1/2 tablespoon or less per cup). Since starting this yesterday, my mood is boosted, and I had way more energy (Chicory has no caffeine, but I think the health benefits are helping me, as I usually have very bad fatigue and my gut health is very bad as I bloat so easily no matter what I eat or drink). Maybe I'm imagining this, but I suspect it's helping. If you google Chicory you can read about the studies showing how it can help, which I am excited about. A.I. told me that Chicory can mess up how bacteria communicate before they form an attack, and this can help stop them. It especially can help with gram positive bacteria and some yeasts. So far I've been adding the chicory in with my cup of daily coffee, and it seems to be easy to brew like that. I had one cup on it's own just to try the taste, and liked that as well.

Delicious Coffee Alternative
Wanted a coffee alternative due to high blood pressure and heart burn issues. This is delicious and taste a bit different than coffee, in some ways better than coffee. I use refillable Keurig pods and just two teaspoons, so less than if I was using ground coffee. Works great, taste great and from what I read better health benefits.

A very good substitute for coffee, even decaf
As the hubby and I are off our beloved rich, dark, sweet, creamy coffee now (you can tell we miss it, eh?) I'm testing out good replacements. There are many options for replacing that hot cup of deep, black joe and some I'd tried long ago, thanks to some hippie proclivities from the mother, but I'd never tried just chicory. I brewed it in my Bialetti Moka pot, and it works beautifully. As part of my love of coffee lay in the ritual of it all, this is a plus. It looks akin to motor oil when pouring, which is another plus, as I always loved coffee that could be mistaken for "Texas tea" :) I add heavy cream and real sugar, and that makes the bitter, rich kick really lovely. While chicory doesn't have that coffee smell, that's a plus/minus. Most of the time I loved that smell, but there were times when the same coffee brewed the same way smelled like literal crap to me, despite tasting great (hormones are fun!) but with this, I didn't smell it brewing at all and I have the curse of a wolf's nose. That lack of a discernable scent might be a plus for most people. It has a very rich taste with a bitter kick that does the job very nicely of replacing coffee! I also just brewed it adding roasted carob powder to the Moka pot and it's lovely. I'll also be trying it mixed with something like Postum or a malted barley drink, as I imagine those flavors combined (maybe also with the carob) will be lovely. But I'm sold, and it even tasted great when it went cold, so this subs for our ubiquitous iced coffees, without the acid or myriad health risks associated with regular and decaf java (sad, but true). The iced caramel macchiatos made with this will make summer a joy; less heat-inducing, zero acid issues. Off to enjoy a hot cup of chicory love, and I hope you give it a try.

Great taste but not for me
I want to start this review off by stating that I really enjoyed the taste of this. I was in need of a substitute for my morning coffee and read about chicory. I was excited to try something new. The flavor of this is great with some cream and sugar or sugar substitute. The reason this was not for me is that it was giving me major headaches. I first thought it was from cutting out the coffee so I continued to drink it. The headaches started to get more intense that regular tylenol or advil was not cutting it. I stopped drinking the chicory and had no headaches. I normally suffer from headaches because of allergies. I might just be the only case of this in everyone who has tried it I am not sure. Sadly I am allergic to many flowers and weeds so I would just take caution if anyone has those types of allergies.

I would give it 10 stars if I could
I am a coffee LOVER and recently had to stop drinking caffeine. Decaf coffee was not cutting it so a friend told me about this brand of roasted chickory. It is so delicious, and smoothe, I add a little honey and flavored creamer.....omg! It has a nice nutty peppery bite to it, and no stomach issues! It has probiotics too so it is a great healthy alternative to coffee. I feel so much better too and NO COFFEINE! Ive made it in a Moka pot, in the regular drip coffee maker, and in the Keurig pot. It is delicious in all of them! Definitely try this!

We love this stuff!
We love coffee. We love bold coffee. This product takes it to that next level. When we make it, we use 4 parts coffee, 1 part chicory for 10 cups of coffee. It is health-wise very beneficial as a prebiotic, and supports gut health, helps regulate blood sugar, and helps with weight management. We enjoy using this product and find it a delicious addition to our morning coffee!

Very good chicory!
Very good chicory, ground to the right size for pourover filters and Aeropress. (Chicory mellows the taste of cheap Robusta coffees, and reduces the caffeine per cup. Measure out in equal proportion to your ground coffee ... e.g. for one cup, use half a tablespoon of ground coffee and an equal amount of this. Brew as normal.) On its own it makes a good substitute beverage but wants a little cream to help its flavour.

Headache warning
Customers should be aware that this product can produce severe headaches. For weeks I was getting headaches that were almost dehabilitating and I couldn't figure out why. After an internet search I learned these ingredients can cause headaches. I stopped drinking and they went away and haven't come back. Tastes good, but not worth the headache. Though I did not reach out to them I was contacted by the supplier and offered a full refund. Impressive service.
