Do not buy
Useless. The old ones were great, but this doesn’t sharpen anything at all. It also isn’t worth a 80 mile round trip to return.. Money lost either way.

Works well on softer blade knives
A friend of mine introduced me to this type of knife sharpener. His was very old unit that was a gift to him and it belonged to a elderly man. He barbecued a lot of big events and used it to keep his chef knife sharp for separating ribs and slicing tri tip. I sharpened my Kershaw folding knife and a high carbon steel chefs knife and was amazed. I found this style of sharpener at Amazon and ordered it. This was the 8 dollar version and Amazon sells another for over 20 dollars. I tried to sharpen a high carbon steel chefs knife with it and the blade would glide over the sharpeners wheel without it cutting the blade edge and it did not sharpen. at all. I used it on a Bahco utility knife made of softer steel and it worked very well. I am going to buy the more expensive Italian made sharpener and hope it works on harder blades. The sharpener is compact and easy to use making it perfect for camping trips.

Good concept, poor quality
I've had a knife sharpener of this type before, it worked great, this one has worthless disks. Sharpening concept works great IF the disks are hard, these are not hard.

Stahlscheiben sind zu meiner Meinung nach wenig scharfkantig. der "schliff" wird beim durchziehen nicht ganz gleichmässig.
