Sound Quality Is Superb
This device works very well. My new PC had no SPDIF Optical out. Plugged this into a USB port and I now have crystal clean 24 Bit audio to listen to my music on the BIG speakers and my AV Amplifier. It's a more cost effective option than installing a PCI card in the computer. One minor issue: The first one I ordered had a short in the USB cable. The sound would stop under the weight of the Optical cable plugged into it. Hanging there caused a short. Must be manufacturing issue. Given the reasonable price, I just bought a second one and it works fine. Now I have two. One as a spare I guess. I can get the bad one to work if I hold up the cable in a manner to take the weight off the USB connecter. Strange issue, but I didn't bother to send it back. The cost of shipping wouldn't be worth it. It's a great product but needs better quality control in manufacturing.

Great Little Adapter, Huge Sound Difference
I picked this up to improve the audio quality from my PC to my Samsung HW-S50B soundbar. Bluetooth just wasnโt cutting it, the sound was hollow, lacked bass, and didn't use the center speaker at all. This inexpensive adapter completely changed that. It was plug-and-play on Windows, I just had to switch my sound output from Bluetooth to SPDIF and I was good to go. Now I get clean, full sound with strong bass and much better center channel clarity. Movies and music actually sound how they should. Build quality feels solid too, no signal dropouts, and the optical connector fits snugly into my soundbar. The price is excellent for what it delivers, especially compared to some of the overpriced alternatives out there. If you're looking to squeeze better sound out of a setup that supports optical input, this adapter is a no-brainer over Bluetooth.

Converts standard USB ports to optical audio out ports
This can be a big money saver for PC (desktop) users because most PC's under $700 do not come with an optical audio port - forcing you to either use one of your display ports (just for sound), deal with a large converter box for the analog 3.5mm speaker out jacks that most PC's do come with, or use a bluetooth connection if available - which are always finnicky and don't always connect automatically each and every time. OR the big one - buy a more expensive PC that does come with an optical audio port. Instead, this adapter converts any standard USB port to an optical audio out port. Plug the USB side of the adapter into any USB port on your PC or other device you want to play music (audio) from, and then plug the optical audio side of the adapter into the optical audio port on your soundbar or other device. Make sure the sound settings on both your devices point to the new port, and you're done. I use my PC to play music through a soundbar and the sound is perfect - USB to Optical is all digital, so there's no analog converting. And, it was important that I could just turn everything on, hit play on my music player and it works, every time. No need to mess with settings each and every time, and no messing with bluetooth connections - which is another reason optical audio ports are better to use when you can. I've seen some reviews where the device gets hot, but it's been about a month now and mine is just fine and I use it all day, every day - lots of music. Time will tell, but either way, the concept will remain valid - as long as your audio/music player device (PC, laptop, tablet, etc...) has a standard USB port and your speaker device (soundbar, standalone speaker, transceiver head (for larger music setups)) has an optical audio port, then you can use devices like this one to play music between the two.

plug and play at its finest
I ordered a motherboard that listed an SPDIF output as being included. I searched the pics of the back panel and saw that it was there. The board arrived, and no optical output was included. I bought this product and plugged it into a USB port. 5.1 sound appeared after selecting my sound setting to USB optical out. Problem solved. Great product. Plug and play at its finest.

Quick and easy usb to optical output solution!
Worked perfectly. Put a new PC together but forgot completely about losing the built-in audio optical output my previous motherboard had. I connect to a Sony soundbar for audio when im not using headphones. Plugged this in to usb and instantly recognized and cant hear any issues with the audio. Quick, couldn't be easier to install and fairly inexpensive solution for great audio output.

It delivers the promised product.
I used this device to connect my HTPC to a soundbar, the MoBo didn't have an optical out, I couldn't get ARC working well with the TV and this sound bar, and using the optical out on the TV would prevent the TV from exposing the sub of my 2.1 system leaving a lot of things to be desired. This device promised to take a USB port and make it that Optical out I needed; and it does that. It exposes an audio out as an option, it supports the 2.1 setup, and will passthrough Most of the audio types in my media library. (Emby will send the sub commands.) The issue that prevents me from being "happy" with this selection however is that this device likes to go to "sleep" after a few seconds, meaning that if you pause the video/audio/etc.. to go get a drink, answer a text, what-have-you, it'll take a good 5 seconds to bring the sound back. I've looked for drivers, I've adjusted as many settings as I can find, swapped USB Ports, and nothing has made it better. It makes starting back up again a pain. So, while it does what it says it will, it is not the best for my use case. Notes: This delay is not in place on a direct optical connection from the TV, or from an optical out on another Mobo, so it 'is' this device. Using USB 2.0, and 3.1 did not make a difference.

A good product
This is a good product and well priced. I had tried a more expensive converter...Optical to USB for my soundbar to my computer...but at times it would disconnect and I would have to reconnect it. This Cubilux works fine with that...and seems to have better sound as well. But the volume is a bit off in that the system volume range stays very tight...from a range of 1-10 the entire volume range operates from a range of 1-3....so 3 is top volume....and no it is not because of my system settings because others dont do this. This is a little difficult to explain what it does here...but you get used to it and it is not a major problem...and the converter again works well and I am pleased with it.

Funciona bem em 48khz, trava em 192khz depois de um tempo.
Funciona mais ou menos. No modo 192khz ele as vezes trava, fica distorcido.

Still working perfectly a year later.
Bought in May 2025 and still working perfectly more than a year later. Feeding audio from a pc to a headphone amp. Used with gaming, Plex, Roon. Works exactly as advertised.

Works perfectly
I'm using this to get digital audio out of a Raspberry Pi and into an SMSL SU-1 dac, and for that purpose it's exactly what I needed. I love how simple it is. I do think it's a tad expensive though, it's about the same price as an HDMI audio extractor which could do the same thing but this is a simpler device.. but whatever it works great. Side note: I've seen some reviews mentioning it doesn't work with Dolby or DTS. Although I haven't tried that, from what I know about optical audio there's really no reason it shouldn't work. It will not transcode your audio into Dolby or DTS though, as in it wont just output all audio that way. The software you're using must support sending those formats over optical audio (such as Kodi), and the file you're attempting to play must contain one of those audio formats. Once the software is configured to pass the audio through optical it should work.
