Works Very Well, Take Time to Learn to Use It
I was going to leave a bad review, but after using it a few times, I figured out how to get the best from this little machine. What I learned is that it takes a couple of cycles before the machine is operating at its best. So, the first few dumps, I just let the ice fall back into the water reservoir. After that, this thing hums along and makes perfect ice. It works much, much better than my freezer ice maker or filling ice trays. Plus I can use filtered water (which I highly recommend). Every four or five cycles, I gently shake the water out of the basket and dump the basket into my freezer ice reservoir. I use the scoop to stir the ice around in my freezer to keep it from sticking together. I just let the ice maker run for two or three hours and I have enough to last me a week or two. If I get distracted with something and the basket fills up, it will shut down and wait for me to empty it. The ice can be in there for a while without melting. Very happy with this ice maker.

Get a warranty
When we first got this, we loved using it. Very easy to use, had 2 different size ice cubes, and the cubes tasted fine. After 14 months of use, and only used occasionally, we thought the ice maker broke. We were very disappointed since we thought Igloo had a good name. It turned out our daughter emptied the water by turning it upside down and not using the built-in plug on the bottom. This jostled the mechanism inside and the machine did not work. Once we emptied the water, it seemed to correct itself and works great! Lesson learned - empty the water from the top, NOT the top.

SPEED! OMG, this thing makes Ice FAST!
I bought this for my daughter to put in her bedroom so she wouldn't have to go back to the kitchen for ice for a drink while in the bath or watching late night TV. It WORKS! Its amazing! You put water in it, plug it in and turn it on. In 7 or 8 minutes.... Clunk clunk clunk.... IT MAKES ICE! About 8 or 9 small cubes. Yeah, they're not as big as you will find in your kitchen freezer, but... great for a drink or two! NOW... the ONLY strange downside --- there is no 'freezer compartment' in this little device, beyond the one that MAKES the ice. The ice drops down into a small tray, and then..... and then..... it MELTS! It melts back into the hopper/container for WATER! And... it goes around again and makes ice again! So... after a while, it picks up dirt, dust, germs, spores, mold, whatever is floating around in the air, and puts it back into the ice. ; Same ice same water, over and over! But if you grab and use the first few batches, or replace the water with clean water often, you should be OKay!

I hate it
I’ve had this thing for 24 hours and I already hate it. Yes, it makes ice. It makes ice quickly. The ice will cool your drink. The ice will also melt in your cup, even an insulated cup, very quickly. And if it’s not melting in your cup, it will be melting in the bucket, which leads me to the two things I hate about this machine: 1) the reviews saying buy this if you want to babysit an ice machine are correct. You’ll either be refilling the water reservoir or emptying the bucket or both all day if you want any amount of ice beyond a big sipper full. 2) The thing I hate the most is how LOUD it is. It is the loudest appliance in my kitchen BY FAR and I have a washer and dryer off my kitchen. Not only does it make an industrial level churning noise constantly while it is making ice, the ice dropping in the bucket will make you think someone is tearing down a door trying to get in your house. (Or make your small children run to the door crying, “Daddy’s home!”) It is almost comical how loud the entire process is. Oh, I hate it. Our house/wiring was struck by lightning a few weeks ago, and although our refrigerator is fine, the freezer will no longer stay cold enough and the in-fridge ice maker now makes very little ice each day. So I can’t use ice trays, and I didn’t want to spend a couple of thousand dollars replacing a refrigerator that is fine. I live in a very hot and humid climate and our family needs a lot of ice. This ain’t it.

Works Great!
I'm a single man who was tired to filling 4 ice cube trays everyday to keep ice on hand. I use a lot of ice daily. This is easier, fill two large Jack in the Box cups with water and you're good. Empty the basket every 2 hours or so. It makes enough ice for two days in about 6-8 hours. You need to be around to dump the made ice into another container every 90-120 minutes to let the process continue. Refill as you like. I have larger containers to keep the made ice. The new ice is wet so it can stick in the container you are using. Have an ice pick or old flat head screw driver (cleaned) on hand to use to break of the ice. For sound, it's like having the air conditioner on, about the same as running the dishwasher but longer. No big deal, and you can hear the ice drop, but again, as long as you aren't too sensitive, it's just fine. Long story short, I would rather pour water and then ice cubes than fill trays. It helps that I work from home, but you can get ice within 15 minutes. Keep near the sink to pull the drain plug and then mop out the excess water so nothing grows. I used vinegar to clean the first time. I highly recommend. I have two containers for ice so I only make ice every other day.

Igloo ice maker has short lifespan. Stopped making ice a little after warranty was up
This Igloo ice maker was decent while it lasted. I’ve had it for a little over a year and the elements won’t cool any longer. I feel it had a short lifespan for the price.
