Perfect for a seltzer freak like me
I am a total seltzer freak, but decided to stop buying seltzer in plastic for the environment; then I realized how many seltzer cans ended up in the outdoor recycling can each week. Ping! I received an email from one of my favorites - the Wirecutter review site - and they had a notice about Amazon's invitation-only special offer for this soda stream. My sister has had a SodaStream for years and I thought it was a great idea when I was there visiting. I was lucky to be invited to accept the offer and jumped on it. The unit came with two Co2 bottles, three refillable bottles, and two little bottles of Bubly flavor drops. It's very simple to pop in the Co2 bottle into the back of the unit, which has a cover so you aren't looking at the canister. Then you just fill a bottle with water, slide it up into the unit so the bubble nozzle is inside the bottle, and pull down the lever a few times to bubble it up. Personally, I didn't care for the flavor drops and ended up dumping them out. Instead, I squeeze in some fresh lemon, lime or orange - but I suppose anything can be dropped in for flavoring. Sometimes I drink it plain too. The only non-positive thing I have to say is that the unit is very tall. For my small kitchen I don't have a great place for it to live so I keep it on the counter next to the sink. My husband is going to build a little shelf. You can sign up with SodaStream and they send you tips - like not adding flavoring until after bubbling the water; keeping the refillable bottles filled in the fridge so they are cold; giving you an idea of the number of times to pull down the lever for varying degrees of bubbles - and also specials, such as automatic Co2 refills (not only is this cheaper, but it's environmentally friendly too). Final thoughts: I don't know why I waited so long to buy one of these. This is something that definitely lowers my environmental footprint and now I don't ever run out of my bubbly water!

Second best purchase I've made this year!
My best purchase was a countertop water filtration system from Amazon that has optional remineralization of the filtered water. (Stokk T1 Countertop Reverse Osmosis Water Filter. I love it.) I keep the pitcher that comes with it filled and in my frig to make sure the water is cold. I have been drinking my electrolytes in canned seltzer water because I like the bubbles and it makes drinking it more enjoyable. Sometimes I would get flavored water, sometimes just plain. I've been purchasing the store brand because it contains 12 cans per case and it's less expensive. Name brands usually have just 8 cans and cost more. Enter SodaStream! Ta Da! It was on sale for Black Friday so I took advantage of it at my sister's suggestion. My filtered remineralized water is clean and delicious and when carbonated, it makes the cleanest and most delicious sparkling water I have ever tasted. This SodaStream is very easy to use. I unpacked it, read the instructions, registered my unit for warranty, set up the system and made my first liter of fizzy deliciousness in under 30 minutes! Let me tell you how economical my purchase will be. A 12 pack of store brand seltzer water is about 4 liters at a cost of about $4.50. At two cans a day, a 12 pack lasts for 6 days and that comes to about fifteen 12 packs (60 liters) for about $67.50 every 90 days. A cannister of SodaStream CO2 makes approximately 60 liters of bubbly water using the recommend 3 pumps of gas. Right now the cost for a two-pack is $68.99. (I like light carbonation so I do one/two pumps.) The 90 day cost for SodaStream should be about $34.50, if my calculations are correct. And as a bonus, I won't be filling the landfills with empty cans. (My city doesn't recycle.) This alone makes me feel good about my purchase. The flavorings are nice but will add to your cost. My electrolytes come in flavored and unflavored varieties so I will usually opt out of adding more flavoring. I really recommend SodaStream. It's fun, economical and good for our environment! UPDATE: I have been using my SodaStream twice a day since the day I got it and the original CO2 cylinder is still going strong. So far, it's lasted more than two months. I can't imagine living without this machine. It helps me keep on track to take my electrolytes on a regular basis. Thanks SodaStream!

Simple and easy to set up and use
Update: Machine still works great, but when I went to replace the co2, the other tank I received was empty. I try to drink the recommended amount of fluids that my body size would need each day. I tend to stick with water, coffee, tea and the occasional juice. Water gets boring after a while so I started buying sparkling water to mix it up. My sister has one of these machines and I thought it was cool. Plus, more cost effective over time than buying sparkling water at the store. I decided to get one. It arrived quickly and was packaged well. It was simple to set up and the directions were easy to follow when connecting the CO2. I also ordered some flavors. I played around with how much carbonation I wanted and ended up settling on pulling the handle 3 times. I don't drink sparkling water every day so the CO2 cartridges should last me a bit longer than the norm. Setting up an account through SodaStream so I can get refills was easy. I like the water both with and without flavor, although I do like playing around with the 6 flavor set, mixing and matching to see what works and what doesn't. The sleek design makes this easy to place in small spaces and given that it's cordless, makes it even easier. It doesn't take up much counter space, although I did have to watch placement due to height. It will not fit under our cupboards as it is too tall. I'm really enjoying having it and will end up saving money over time. It's a good investment if you like sparkling water.

Fizzy fizz fizz
“Let me tell you about this glorious carbonation machine. It’s not just a kitchen gadget—it’s a freakin’ fizz wizard. You throw in any liquid—ANY LIQUID—press a button, and BOOM: instant soda magic. Water? Fizzy. Lemonade? Fizzy. Leftover pickle juice? Hey, live your life—it’s fizzy now too. But let me warn you: don’t, and I mean don’t, try it with milk. I did it. I’m not proud. I thought, ‘What’s the worst that could happen?’ The answer is everything. Milk and carbonation are mortal enemies. Trust me on this one. Learn from my mistakes, friends. Now, for the good stuff. This thing is ridiculously easy to use. I’ve had to battle some appliances in the past, but this? No drama. You fill the bottle, press the button, and you’re suddenly living in a sparkling wonderland. Want a light fizz? Boom. Want bubbles so strong they punch you in the throat? DOUBLE BOOM. This machine doesn’t judge—it just delivers the fizz levels you crave. It’s also a total flavor playground. Add a splash of lime, some berries, or that weird syrup you bought on a whim—whatever you want, and you’re basically a sparkling beverage sommelier now. I’ve turned plain old water into seltzer so delicious, it makes me weep. This thing is a game-changer. It’s fun, it’s delicious, it’s like having a soda factory in your kitchen. If you don’t have one yet, you’re missing out on the fizziest, bubbliest joy of your life. Seriously, get it, and prepare to feel like a carbonation rock star. Fizz on, my friends. Fizz on.”

Mixed Results
I absolutely love the carbonated drinks that the SodaStread makes, but I'm not so thrilled about how messy it is, and the fact that mine complely died 4.5 months after purchase. They say it is easy to use, and that's the truth. It can't get much easier than "pull this lever". And I absolutley love the endless flavor possibilities. Right now Red Gatorade with 4 pulls of bubbles is my go-to drink, consuming mutiiple 18 oz bottles evey day. But, we are going through more napkins than all get out. Even when running right, it still drips when done. But when running wrong, like it has been lately, its as sticky as lazy cousin Bud. Andrew Stanton famously said "Art is messy" and apparently it was the "Art" model SodaStream he was talking about. When one door closes... It turns out ours is so messy because it's broken inside. So, it gives us a chance to check out how good, or bad, SodaSteam's support it. I'll edit this in a week or so after I've tried to get it fixed under warranty.

SodaStream ART review.
I bought this one (the ART) to replace my old one from circa 2017. The old one was fine but the ART improved on it immensely. The cylinder changes quickly and easily. The carbonation is stronger and the push handle/lever makes it much easier to use and gauge intensity compared to the push button method of the older model. Very pleased with it and just started my tank exchange/refill subscription because I am using it for practically all beverages now for myself and family and friends. It really is just like opening a store bought bottle or getting a fountain soda. Highly recommend it!

Watch where you spend your money
Terrible quality, very bad product, leaks gas from every side while using, the bottle is made from cheap or recycled plastic, you can tell when you look through, it’s kind of cloudy, it’s supposed to be clear PET… it’s just very bad don’t buy it.
