Would this backpack be good for middle school what material is it made of? (my parents think it will rip immediately)

Yes, it's perfect for Middle School. My daughter is in 8th grade and this has been the only backpack that has held up all year. I was hesitant about spending so much on a backpack, but it's so worth it. My daughter packs it VERY full and no rips. It's made of 600D polyester exterior and 200D polyester interior. You won't be disappointed with this backpack.

Waterproof? If I am packed an a light rain starts before I can open an umbrella or get my poncho on will everything inside be drenched?
