Brilliant concept, a refreshing change, great game.
I have completed this game and I can safely say I thoroughly enjoyed myself. As someone who has played Pokémon since its launch in the 90s, I actually like the way the franchise has evolved. It has a set of stories that you need to do to unlock the finale, and has so many in-game features it will keep you entertained for days. I understand alot of people complained about the bugs at launch (which the developers fixed) and times where you lose latency... Honestly, I do not know why people feel the need to complain about something so trivial. The original generation of Pokémon games were so limited; with no backlight on the handheld Gameboy, no online features of any kind (except local play via link cables, as the internet was not really a thing back then). If you had no friends you would find yourself unable to just hop online and make them like you can today. It was a set path, with no story and no character was really memorable. Nowadays you get to see Pokémon in their natural habitats like real life animals. Swimming in lakes, hanging from trees, even grouped up in herds or packs. You get to customise your own characters and explore a vast open world that we only ever dreamed of as children in the 90s. I have played through and own at least one game from every generation (and on their respective handhelds) and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed myself. None of this min-maxing, IV business is my cup of tea, and the game caters to old fashioned types like me as well as the young, competitive types. I was able to go through the game at my own pace and enjoy the quality of life improvements, along with transferring Pokémon from previous games. I gave this game five stars and decided to order Scarlet too, since I love them so much. Now my husband who also grew up on these games, can enjoy the new experience with me!

Some bugs but the game is still a blast!
The game I find to be as most Pokémon games are really addictive. I can explore the world for hours and it's because of the Pokémon and filling your Pokédex which is great as now for every 10 Pokémon caught it rewards you with items and the visual concept of it like filling books in a library is a lot better than before. Most of the new Pokémon designs are good and fit in with the old. And the game has mostly ran on my old original switch fine. Only issue is it does feel a bit rushed in some aspects like most modern pokemon games. At a distance NPC's judder and move like robots until you are practically on them and they didn't put interiors in most of the buildings. I have been playing for 30+ hours and I still have loads of story and game to do as well as Pokémon to catch. This time instead of just the 8 badges to collect there is also a titan pokemon storyline to follow and a team star one to follow. In my opinion it is a great game, fun and addictive with some minor, annoying niggles. Still recommended, especially for any fans of past Pokémon games!

Best pokémon game so far
I see lots of people hating on this game. honestly don't know why. I love the open world theme, people are complaining about you being able to do whatever you want in whatever order but it doesn't really matter. you need to beat the gyms in the correct order anyways to unlock higher levels that your pokémon can be, so it's not like you're gonna be able to just go and beat the final gym straight away. the graphics could be better but i honestly like them more than any past games graphics. they just feel more comfortable shiny hunting is much easier but still hard enough in this game. you need to still do grinding and put in work to get shinies, but once you have all the required stuff (herbas and completed game and pokedex) theyre not too hard to get. i also love the co-op and new pokémon in this game. the glitches are not that bad, i never really experienced any and i have 100+ hours on the game. So, if you are wanting to buy it I say go for it

With its captivating storyline, charming new Pokémon, and engaging gameplay mechanics, this game offers a delightful experience for Pokémon fans of all ages. One of the standout elements of Pokémon Violet is its immersive storyline. The game takes players on a thrilling adventure in the vibrant region of Violet, where they embark on a quest to become a Pokémon Champion. Along the way, players encounter unique characters, unravel mysteries, and uncover the secrets of the region. The engaging narrative keeps players invested in their journey and provides a sense of purpose throughout the game. These new creatures come in a variety of types and possess unique abilities, encouraging players to strategize and build diverse teams. The process of capturing, training, and evolving Pokémon remains as addictive as ever, offering countless hours of gameplay and exploration. The visuals in Pokémon Violet are visually stunning, with vibrant and colorful environments that bring the world to life. Having played since Gen 1...
I started my Pokemon journey back when Red & Blue were on the gameboy and I now own most of the Pokemon games ever released. I recently bought a Nintendo switch as I hadn't played the newer generations. I played Let's Go Pikachu, Sword,Brilliant Diamond and Arceus Legends while I awaited the release of Scarlet and Violet which I had delivered on release day. I have played this game for 200+ hours and it's absolutely brilliant. With Pokemon Violet I've gotten into aspects of the series that I never really had the patience for previously such as EV training, competitive/online play and shiny hunting as they are much more accessible now. I really enjoyed exploring the open world and took my time finishing the main story. Even after the story was done and my Pokedex was complete there was still loads of gameplay to be had doing Tera raids and such and I still play often. I'm always excited for the next event raid. Also there is still a DLC to be had from this game which I'm excited about. I have experienced a few minor glitches during my gameplay including a couple of full game crashes and freezing issues during online raids but nothing that has negated my enjoyment of the game. As someone who put off getting a Switch for so long I'm so happy I got into these newer games and Pokemon Violet has been the best of the lot.

Incredibly fun and a new take on the game.
I haven't played Pokémon since Pokémon sun/moon so it's been 7 or so years. I love the changes, I love the open world and seeing all the Pokémon roaming around. I love the raids so far. I haven't gotten far in the game I've only just beaten the first gym leader because I keep roaming around and picking up so much loot. I have heard the DLCs cause insane performance issues so I'll hold off on them and enjoy base game for a while.
