Wolverine: Old Man Logan [Mark Millar, Steve McNiven] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Wolverine: Old Man Logan Review: Great for long-term AND new readers - Millar does it again. This is an out-of-continuity tale set many years in a dystopian future where the supervillains have taken over the world. By out-of-continuity, I mean that you do not have to come into this book having any previous knowledge of the characters at all, so don't worry new readers. Long-term readers need not fret either because there's nice nods to Marvel's past in this book like the Spider-Mobile as well as the story being similar to stories like Days of Future Past. This was a fun, fast-paced story with tons of "holy crap!" moments as well as amazing art by Steve McNiven. It reads fast because there's not a lot of dialogue or annoying thought boxes, but that's mostly due to Millar not wanting to obscure any of McNiven's beautiful pencils. The phrase a picture is worth a thousand words is applicable to this story. If you've read Civil War you'll know the caliber of artist McNiven is, and the story in Old Man Logan is even stronger than CW. The main story starts out with a much older Logan (no longer the superhero Wolverine) struggling to make ends meet for his family on his property in a now barren California ranch. He can no longer make rent and his landlords, the Hulk Gang, have killed families who missed their rent. He is approached by his old Avenger friend Hawkeye who propositions they go on a journey across the country to New Babylon on the East Coast to deliver a mysterious package. For his troubles, Hawkeye will give Logan $500, which will more than pay the rent. Logan is reluctant at first, he just wants to live in peace with his family and had a traumatizing incident that has scarred him into no longer wanting to fight but he finally agrees and they go off on the adventure. It's very interesting to see everybody in this world to be in complete poverty, with children being lucky to have 50 year old Xbox's. One of the stops is at a superhero shrine where people gather to pray the heroes will come back to save them. Almost all of America's former great cities are in complete ruins and the survivors have to worry about roaming dinosaurs, cruel supervillain overlords and Moloids (underground creatures that wreak havoc on the surface world). There will be a cool version of Venom in this story, as well as the new Kingpin. In the end, we will find out what was in the package, there will be a explanation as to why Logan is no longer Wolverine and there's an amazing showdown between Wolverine (did you really think he was going to be a pacifist the whole book?) and the Hulk Gang as well as the President. It's strongly hinted there will be a sequel and just today Millar has said he will begin working on one due to the strong success of Old Man Logan. The story is awesome, definitely worth the read. I loved the lil hints and nods to all characters if they showed up or not. Great comic

It's Mad Max, The Dark Knight Returns, and Wolverine All Rolled Into One!
There are really only a handful of Wolverine stories that exist out there that I would consider to be "must-reads", or essential to the character. And the story that Mark Millar and Steve McNiven helped create here is something amazing. It's set in a "what-if" scenario where the world has pretty much fallen into chaos and desperation following a cataclysmic struggle with the "super-villains" decades before hand... and what you get is a harsh Mad Max-like world inhabited by what little remains of the Marvel Universe. You will encounter a bunch of famous Marvel characters, both old and new... with of course, a central focus on Wolverine (now much older and pacifistic). The story itself isn't as deep or complex as Millar and McNiven's previous work on Marvel's "Civil War" story arc, but you get a fresh and meaningful look at Wolverine's character that I guarantee you has never quite been seen before. Millar's story is fun, but also gutsy and grim at times... so I wouldn't recommend this story for younger readers, but for those older readers it is a home-run chapter for the character and also acts as a great closing chapter for the Marvel Universe itself (if only a possible one). If anything, the highest selling-point for this book is the artwork... Steve McNiven's style is just gorgeous! And really helps the pages flow. As soon as I flipped the book open I just couldn't put it down. From the sprawling deserts and sands to the crumbling remnants of Washington D.C. ... never has the Marvel world felt so real. I would highly recommend this book to any fan of the world of Marvel, or comic books in general. A great read!

😁
I absolutely loved this book. I loved the story where the villains won the war, heroes are almost extinct, dystopia ensues, wastelands appeal and so forth. Now, after the Hulks fiasco, what the OML story arc should be afterwards is OML going on a futile but necessary revenge tour of trying to assassinate world bosses like Doctor Doom, Kingpin or whatever until his body gave out while having the stories being told in a style reminiscent of exploitation movies. Instead it's a stupid dimensional excursion to where most of the run is OML being out of the wastelands into some dimension where everything is typically normal in comic book land. It's not to say that the stories were bad. I like the stories with Maestro and Bullseye among others but this route they took is absolutely misguided and a complete miss. The overall OML run gets a 6/10 but this particular paperback gets a 10/10.

What a dark and deep story line. It starts slow but gets really exciting and dark soon! Can't wait to get next chapter!

Sağlam ve orijinal bir şekilde geldi ancak çok geç ulaşıyor.

This was a page turner and I didn't want it to end. It did and now i'm addicted to Mark Millar. Illustration is masterful and the storyline is human and solemn.

It's an amazing piece of work. The art is fantastic and the story is amazing. It delivers a post-apocalyptic neo-western noir type of story that echos of Mad Max. It's a well-developed and brutal story with shocking revelations and characters. I couldn't believe what they did with these characters and was super impressed.

Ein Must-Have!
