Does it fit for Newborn baby?

Not unless you buy an adapter to attach a car seat. From the official website: “ The Bugaboo Butterfly can be used from 6 months of age until 48.50 lbs. The Butterfly can be used with a car seat using the Butterfly car seat adapters (available to purchase separately)—in this case, the Butterfly can be used from birth onwards.”

How do the brakes work on the butterfly stroller?

You need to press down on the brake pedal to lock your stroller in place. When ready to stroll you lift the pedal back up.
