This is the 3rd time I’ve tried this Mod Podge Crackle Medium. It doesn’t do anything except leave a gloss finish which I don’t want since I’m trying to age a piece. There is no crackling effect at all. I followed the directions meticulously. It just doesn’t work. Any lines you see in the photo are where I deliberately left brush strokes when I painted and sanded off areas to rough it up.

I've never used this crackle medium from Mod Podge but I know it will be great. I use Mod Podge products all the time on my craft and wreath projects. I plan to repaint some plant pots on the front porch and use this crackle medium on them to make them look weathered. They will have ferns in them. I can't wait to start this, it will be so pretty.

It's alright the crackle isn't that great

All Mod Podge products are amazing, but this CRACKLE MEDIUM takes my pieces to the next level. Easy to use and quick to clean up.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I bought it bc its a well known brand,it promises to make cracks in 1 hour which is almost too good to be true compared to other brands (and it was!) . . Ive used several types of crackle mediums before and they've always worked for me.But the mod podge will not. The instructions says not to shake but roll the bottle to mix it. So I did. It says apply thinly and not over brush so I've applied it in 1 brush stroke in different thicknesses. (Se photos of both the layers I did last night at the ones that I just did while writing this to show you the thickness I've applies it yesterday) No cracks. Not a single crack on any thickness to be found. (I've applied it over regular acrylic metallic paint, but I don't think that is the problem.) I'll do some more testing on apllying and different surfaces, and will update my review if it actually produce cracks, but at this point i highly doubt it will. Maybe I got a jar from an expired batch?

Absolutely a waste of money. It goes on blue & dries milky white, no cracking at all.

Very happy with mod podge crackle. Works best using a copper type paint to make it look antique

Ignore the instructions. You need to put a very thick coat on and leave for the 24 hours. It does crackle, but maybe not as much as you'd like. It has a lovely glossy finish which once you've rubbed o er whatever medium you use for the cracks - I've used mica powder, and contrasting acrylic - both of which worked well. A metallic paste would likely work well too. I experimented and watched a couple of utube videos before I even bought it it. All in all I'd recommend but I'd also advise caution and some research. I dropped a star for instructions.
