FFXIV just keeps getting better...
I'm going to refrain from talking specifically about Stormblood too much, due to potential spoilers. This is more of a general overview of my thoughts about the game: I didn't have a very high opinion of FFXIV when I first tried it years ago. Compared to newer MMO's, the trinity system just seemed a little outdated and the pacing of the game felt slow. I am glad I persisted and found out what a wondrous game this was and I was able to convince my sister and my friend to start playing. I've tried just about every MMO that has come out since 1996. That's a lot of time spent understanding what it takes to build a great MMO. And while my own entry, if I could ever find the time and money to create one might look something along the lines of a SWG-styled sandbox... for some reason this theme-park game won me over. I have NEVER played an MMO with as much story as this one has. I've probably spent enough hours in this game just enjoying the cutscenes. I feel the 2.0 (ARR) story is a little dull save for the end, 3.0 (Heavensward) improved upon that greatly, and 4.0 (Stormblood) completely re-defines the story-driven MMO experience. The graphics aren't anything fancy but are certainly not ugly either. I'm proud to say that every piece of gear looks exactly like the tool-tip icon, and every piece of jewelry is fully rendered in the game. Never seen the latter before. I think what keeps me coming back, beyond the story, is the plethora of things to do. While it isn't a sandbox in the least, I almost feel like it is a pseudo-sandbox with the sheer amount of activities. From gambling at the Gold Saucer, Chocobo Racing and Breeding, leveling and gearing all of the other classes, hard modes and extreme modes of dungeons/trials, collecting minions, mounts and orchestrion sheets, running FATEs, and the new and improved PvP system. I just feel like there will always be something to do at endgame. The most important facet that I almost nearly forgot is the community. This is the friendliest community I've seen in years. It takes me back to some of the earlier days when everyone used to be helpful, before the troll mentality started permeating the interwebs. Now, I'm not saying there isn't trolls, but in my experience and almost 300 hours playing, I have seen very few and for the most part they aren't tolerated in parties. This game is not perfect by any means, it's come from a horribly flawed launch in 1.0 (Stormblood was also a flawed launch), the maintenance times seem to be a little lengthy in my opinion (24 hours on the regular), but it's bounced back and is the second most popular subscription MMO on the market. I don't recommend buying any of the skips to catch up to your friends. Take your time... this is one of the few instances where the journey is actually worth it. You can do a majority of the fun activities long before you hit endgame.

Great Expansion, Gorgeous New Zones, Amazing Story!
It was a slow start, but I've dug through a great chunk of the new content. This is a great expansion! The story has me dug in, and they try to give you enough side quests to keep you from hitting the dreaded 'Level Gate' where you're halted in the main story while you hit the recommended level for it. The new zones are beautiful, and I find myself just sitting and gazing out over the landscape at times! The new classes also feel extremely fun to play, all be it a bit over powered. They'll receive balances after a while I'm sure. The new dungeons are super fun with entertaining mechanics. They've added swimming and under water zones as well, and I think this has been handled better here than any other MMO I've played yet! The story line's stakes feel high, but still retain humor and all the bonding with the story characters that you've come to expect from what folks have played so far! I dove into this heavier than even Heavensward, and I believed they handled that expansion wonderfully as well. It was worth wading through the server issues at the beginning, and I can't wait to see where the story progresses!

You always carry with you the things that you like most about the games you've played in the past ...
I've played just about every premium and free to play MMORPG that has been released in the last 10 years. You always carry with you the things that you like most about the games you've played in the past and easily forget the things you don't like until you return to them and suddenly you're reminded of everything you hate. I've repeated this cycle for years. Final Fantasy however, keeps me subscribed because of the frequency of updates, and how often they grant requests from their community. Since Stormblood launched last month we've had two content patches that added meaningful progression. The game has a lot of heart and charm. Stormblood specifically feels fresh, has a focused flow to your characters progression that's easy to understand and fun! It's added so much content that it almost feels like a fresh start to the game which is what an expansion should feel like and not a continuation of the same dull questing/dungeon/raid experience most other MMOs offer in their expansion. I highly recommend this game to any MMORPG fan. Don't give up just because you're bored with WoW or your freemium games.

Sure, okay
Yeah, it's fine. I mean, if you like video games and need something to distract you from the fact that you're slowly but surely spiraling into an eternal abyss from which there's no escape, it does the job for a while. Requires a monthly subscription to play. Don't forget to cancel when you take a break. You'll have to at some point. Being an MMO, the game is designed to have more content, variation, and "stuff" available than you'll probably be able to experience if you're the type that has a job and a social life. And you'll have to push through plenty of mind-numbingly repetitive tasks to get to the good stuff. Best to play with real-life friends so you don't have to worry about coordinating with the maladjusted miscreants who tend to dominate online gaming.

The Best MMORPG Just Got Better!
As you all know, Final Fantasy XIV has been the best MMORPG on the market for years now. Stormblood has only gone and upped its quality tenfold! >The new maps are all absolutely stunning! No other game compares! >Not only are they beautiful, they are massive! Bigger than any map you will find in any other today. >The revamped classes are superb! They did away with old skills that were either not utilized at all, or offered minimal benefits. Many of these effects were built into pre-existing skills (freeing up space on your hotbars), or completely remade. >The new Role Skills are a terrific adjustment and addition. Many revised skills fell here, in addition to brand new ones, which let you adjust ever so slightly what sort of role you play. Be it the addition of many support based spells for all classes, debuff skills, or pure damage modifiers. These new abilities are more for interesting than before. >The new Job Gauge UI's are not only lovely to look at, but decrease the amount of stress and micromanaging you do during combat! No more look at your 90,006 buffs to see if your class mechanic buffs are still up/about to expire. There is now a pretty gauge you can place any where on your screen, adjust the size of, or get rid of if you're into not knowing whats going on at all times (*cough*dragoons*cough*). And thats just the surface! What are you waiting for? Get the expansion to the best MMORPG out there and start living your virtual life, today!

Life here is better, down where it's wetter, Under the Sea!
Let me tell you, the QUALITY OF LIFE improvements to this expansion make it WORTH IT ALONE. No more having to respec bonuses to swap between SCH and SMN!!! No more cooldown after class changes! Clear and easy to understand stack gauges! Reworked Cleric Stance! Easy access to MSQ progress! Less Job requirements! No more Cross Class Skill bs! SWIMMING DIVING SPEAR FISHING RED MAGE!!! New dungeons! New Gear! Everything you'd want from a good xpac! And I can guarantee most of the garbage with the server issues has already been ironed out (from 608 person queues to 6 and no more 90ks just trying to do solo instances). Plus the Red Mage is incredibly fun to play as, and I've enjoyed what I've dabbled with the Samurai. This is definitely a quality xpac. See you on Exodus!

Really really not happy right now.
This has nothing to do with the Final Fantasy game itself. The game is a great game even though Right now I can't play the damn expansion. I purchased this back when Square was having a promotion that if you bought something worth $20 or more you would get in game content. Which I figured hell I'll buy the expansion to get it. Win-win right? Well the expansion finally came in today and I was excited as hell to play it and see all the new content. So I opened the packaging got everything set up. Tried to put in the license key for the game "Invalid license key". Well crap. Tried it again just in case I mistyped something. "Invalid key" and again "Invalid key." So I figured I'd talk to Square Enix support. Their chat system is closed, the phone lines are busy and I haven't gotten an email response yet. So the only other thing I could think of was to contact Amazon support. Contact them and its like no one there had ever heard of a video game ever. When I would talk about this they kept looking at the time card that I purchased on amazon a few weeks ago. I kept telling them "NO ITS NOT THE DAMN TIME CARD ITS THE PHYSICAL COPY OF FINAL FANTASY XIV - STORMBLOOD PC" I finally gave the guy the order number he filled out a form and now I have to wait another 24-48 hours to get a new code for this game. Unless its like a console game never try to get physical copies of PC games from amazon. It might be cheaper but its really not worth all this hassle.

Completely immersive
This expansion is absolutely amazing. It is such a massive game with a huge map, it is very difficult to get bored. It has added new, interesting classes, new storyline quests, and new regions to explore. The storyline is very involved, the art is beautiful, and the soundtrack is mesmerizing. The only downside is that once you get to the highest levels in any class, it takes a lot of work to progress, and it can get repetitive, but that is to be expected with this genre.
