EZ-Clean Membrane Filter Cartridge for Katadyn Be Free Water Filters For Endurance Sports, Camping and Backpacking (8019641)

Went on a backpacking trip recently and took a Sawyer mini. It took so much time and effort to filter water that it didn’t seem sustainable longterm. After reading multiple reviews of available filters, this one sounded like it would fit my needs the best with its 0.1 micron filter, filtration speed, and ease of cleaning. I also happen to prefer using my 2L Hydrapaks over any of my other bags and I dislike the idea of lugging around Smartwater bottles, so the fact that this will fit the Hydrapaks I have was a huge deciding factor. When I tested the filter at home I was very satisfied with the flow rate. I’m also excited to not have to worry about back flushing the filter, even if that leads to a shorter filter life overall as some users have pointed out on various forums. The Sawyer can now live in my daypack for emergency use since it works better when drinking directly from it rather than trying to filter larger volumes of water with it.

Katadyn BeFree will keep you completely safe, drinking from any stream or lake while hiking or backpacking. I bought the filter separately, then paired it with "Hydrapak Flux - Collapsible Backpacking Water Bottle (1 Liter)". Have used it 3 times while hiking. It works, is easy to use, has excellent flow rate, weights next to nothing and clips onto the back of my day pack. My goal was to reduce weight; with this, I don't have to carry as much water on longer hikes; I refill my 1 liter Nalgene bottle with this filter.

This filter is perfect. So good that I got a second one in case it disappeared off the face of the planet! Used this on an 8-day hike on the Appalachian Trail. We had some clear water, and other water that was literally BROWN. Filtered out all the gunk. The brown water turned out to be tea-colored but that is not the fault of the Befree. The tannins in the water cannot be filtered out. The flow rate was HIGH. I filled up two 1L water bottles in less time than it look my friend to fill her liter bottle using a SAWYER! It is fast, it never clogged, and it is easy to clean. The sport top can be unscrewed for a gravity setup with two bags using a coupling for a 28mm thread on the receiving side or another CNOC 43mm bag. It is also light!

Very lightweight and compact. Good flow rate initially, but with no really effective way to clean the filter, the flow rate drops pretty quickly. Consider it a one-season disposable item and you should be happy with it.

I’ve been using this filter almost exclusively on pack trips and kayaking. They’re great all around.

My go to filter when hiking. Easy to use and clean and filters fast. Very durable.

Fair price, lasted as long as it should have, easy to clean, paired perfectly with the .8, 1.0, & 3.0L bladders

I brought this product as a back up to take with me on my awesome hike to Everest Base Camp. It did what it said on the tin.....keeping me hydrated! Easy to use in conjunction with water purification tablets which may have been OTT, but hey......no stomach problems and no need to use my back up filter just yet!! Love it! ❤️
