The first time it didn't work and I ended up calling a plumber, but have since realized I didn't have it seated correctly at the bottom of the bowl. The second and third times it worked like a charm. Sooo much less effort than plunging, not to mention faster and less messy, and can't forget less expensive than a plumber. This is one of those things I make sure I have a good supply of (the little CO2 "bullets") on hand. Very happy to have this in my home - only wish I'd found about it sooner - on a whim and not expecting anything, I had searched desertcart for "automatic toilet plunger" and there it was. If you hate plunging the toilet and hate even more having to use a snake or even calling out a professional plumber, do yourself a favor and get one of these. I think it only comes with three CO2s so you might want to order an extra pack of those at the same time. Review: instantly followed by a noise similar to a popped out Mylar balloon and sudden drainage of the waste water in the bowl - Took out the old rubber giant plunger and gave it a few tries but no such luck, besides my back is aching and decided I shouldn't be using the old plunger, so I pulled out my low tech but ingenious sure plunge. The plunger seems fairly simple, somewhat taller than your average plunger, made of hard extruded light blue plastic with soft toilet insert and a push button on the handle. It works by unscrewing the top and inserting a metal 2 1/2" cartridge, screwing back the top cartridge holder and inserting the plunger in the toilet by positioning the plunger in the toilet in a down, forward and pull motion, no body strength required. Once positioned, all is required is the push of the handle button, instantly followed by a noise similar to a popped out Mylar balloon and sudden drainage of the waste water in the bowl. Seems daunting but it is not, just make sure you follow the instructions and just like other reviews I have a few extra cartridges around, but this time the toilet unclogged on my first try. Initially I bought 15 extra cartridges which is still cheaper than calling the plumber and have used 3 cartridges in the past 6 months. I'm not sure it works if your princess decides to flush down Barbie or if you really want anything but waste and toilet paper pushed further in your sewer line, otherwise an excellent tool to have around your home.

Effective for known toilet clog. Worked like a charm!
I believe our toilet was clogged by a toilet brush that became detached while trying to unclog tissue overload. We got to the point where it didnt overflow but when you flush, the water would gurle as if there was a partial blockage. Heavy duty plunger and snake did not do the trip so we figured we needed to save some money to call a plumber and maybe a new toilet. This happened in April 2017.. It is a spare restroom so it has been taped off for months. I have to mention the toilet brush was a small, poor quality, low bristle count bought from the dollar store. After being in the s-drain so long it mush have had some degree of breakdown.. Anyways, this came up while I was browsing on Amazon. I have never heard of it before. I ordered this a couple weeks ago and it worked!! Just one blow and the problem was solved. This is a money saver and I'm glad we ordered it! It came with three Co2 cartridges so we have two more. definitely worth the money.

It WORKS!
I have never been able to successfully plunge a toilet. I guess I am too afraid of splashing the contents! I wanted to be able to clear the toilet even when the spouse is away - so I got this. It worked perfectly the first time I tried it. The instructions are clear. It is easy to use - and most importantly it is effective. Also it caused zero splash back out of the toilet! So why 4 stars? You only get 1 use per cartridge. It does come with 3 cartridges, but still - it will be useless if you forgot to get more cartridges. I guess there was just no way to design it such that only part of the gas left the cartridge. I still think it is worth it. It does come with a stand - but I wish the stand was larger with a cover for it - I mean you should clean it every time you use a plunger - which I do - but you can't quite get over the feeling that it might not be perfectly clean - so its nice to hide the plunger part. We are choosing to keep it stored in the box it came in - and in the garage and then just grab it when needed.

Works like a charm!
Superior to any traditional plunger. Just works. I can’t even fathom going back to the old type of plungers. Not sure why they don’t sell this any longer but I’m glad I got one b4 they stopped. I’d 1000000% recommend.

Hisses air out as soon as a cartridge is installed but does the job.
UPDATE: Guy (his name) at the company got ahold of me and sent me a new one. The button apparently doesn’t seem to move the thing inside at all (maybe the cold weather is affecting it or maybe it’s supposed to hiss out air as soon as you install the cartridge), but it behaved the same as my old one, except that i stuck it in the toilet this time before it had a chance for all of the air to expel before using it. The new one came with a note that said it was tested before they sent it to me... so be warned if you’re going to buy this that the button doesn’t appear to make the needle inside move and the thing WILL hiss air our immediately upon putting a cartridge in. Despite this, I updated it to a 5 star review because the product did what it was supposed to do and unclogged my toilet that I couldn’t unclog with a normal plunger. The company was also nice and prompt with trying to resolve my issue, so they have good customer service too! Original: Just bought this thing and even though I’m a Prime member and it was fulfilled by Amazon (I had to wait nearly a week for standard shipping), so my toilet has been unusable this whole time. But, that isn’t even the problem, it just adds to the frustration of having to wait so long only to receive a broken item. The trigger does not work (or rather, it won’t release and seems to be stuck in the fire mode). It arrived this way, and when i followed the instructions (not knowing it was broken) and screwed on my canister, it began hissing as i tightened it and then launched the full force of it into the air once i had it on all the way. You can see the video to see what i mean. Very disappointed so far, especially having wasted a canister for no reason as well.

Easy to use and works! But two of the three cartridges it came with were faulty.

It’s not working. It’s too weak. It doesn’t push hard as advertised. It’s a waste of money unfortunately
